I'm kind of tired of going over this, and am sure some are tired of me asking these questions, but seeing how I can't seem to find my old posts... I'm gonna somewhat start over. Also, something have sorta changed. So here it goes.... I'm wanting to take my newly aquired 440, and stroke it to 505 cid. I'm thinking of using the 440 Source kit with flat tops. Now here's a question that I have, I don't see this kit listed anymore, what's with this I wonder..... I see the 500" kit, then it goes to the 512 kit.... So if the 505 is no longer available, then which to run on the street? 500 or 512? Either way... I'm wanting to go through Modern Cylinder heads for a set of Stealth Heads, they will be ported, new springs, retainers locks (10*), ect will be used. For an intake, I'm wanting to use the Indy dual plane intake, and possibly an 850 cfm carb, it will be between the Demon and Proform, either way a mechanical secondary is what I'll want to use. For ignition I've been looking at the Pertonix stuff, their plug and play dist ( http://www.pertronix.com/prod/ig/flame/dist/billet.aspx ), their second strike box, thinking about running their HV coil ( http://www.pertronix.com/prod/ig/flame/coils/60000_volt.aspx ) and their 8mm wires ( http://www.pertronix.com/prod/ig/flame/wires/default.aspx ) as far as spark plugs, dun know yet. I am wanting to run a hydraulic roller cam, any suggestions? Also as far as rocker arms go, since I'm wanting to run a hydraulic roller cam, I'm thinking that maybe roller lifters would be in order, so I've been considering the Comp Cams Pro Magnum rocker arms ( http://www.jegs.com/i/Comp+Cams/249/1321-16/10002/-1 ). Of course, new push rods hardened if available... Naturally a high volume aluminum water pump, possibly aluminum radiator (if my original one will work with a clean up and inspection, then.... I'd rather use it, otherwise....). Transmission will be an automatic, I plan on having the transmission built by a place called Godly's Transmissions in Moultrie GA. I will be using the 8 3/4, but am leaning toward either the 3.55 SG or 3.91 SG setup in this 489 case rear end. Also am wanting to use the Carter Mechanical fuel pump ( http://www.jegs.com/i/Carter/180/M4589/10002/-1 ). Exhaust wise, I will be using headers, either TTI or Dougs, thinking the 1 3/4" primaries maybe too small for this motor, so the 1 7/8" will probably be the ticket, with 3" collectors, and 3" exhaust all the way back. What else there, I'm wanting to go ahead and use my Milodon oil pan ( http://www.jegs.com/i/Milodon/697/30930/10002/-1 ) use a factory diameter pick up instead of running a 1/2", and use a high volume oil pump. As for harmonic damper, I'm thinking about the ATI Super Damper. This motor will be on the street, maybe some track time, but as of right now the local track is once again closed down.... They need to get their act together. Anyway, shooting for roughly 600 - 650 horse power, 600 - 650 ft/lbs torque. So any questions, comments, concerns?

Sounds like a good build.

Have a look in the proven combo's section for some stroker setups and dyno data.  :2thumbs:

The 400 >> 512 kit works out at 505 cu in with a 4.35" bore (30 over), 512 cu in with a 4.375 bore (55 over).

Here's a question in which I seem to get different answers about..... So I'm wondering what you all have to say on the matter, here's the question:
On the intake port side of the heads, would it be better to run a ported factory style design, or have a set of heads ported to max wedge spec's?
The heads in question is pretty much the Stealth Heads. Going on the 505 stroker, hoping for some 600 - 650 horsepower and 600 - 650 ft/lbs torque, these will be at the flywheel. If at rear wheels, I'd be having to get Indy heads.... The cam spec's that I have are an estimate, exact numbers have yet to be discussed, but they are, solid roller cam, .630" - .650" lift with 1.5 rockers, a mid 250* duration @ .050, and either a 112* or 114* l/s.... Yeah rather healthy cam there....
As for intake, it will be the Indy dual plane intake, but before I know exactly which one, I have to know what kind of port.... The intake is offered in both designs. Carb wise an 850 cfm rated carb should be fine, usually the particular carbs that I'm considering flow more than there rating, so....
Based on this information, which would you say would be the best route? Either the max wedge port style, or the regular intake port style?

The stealth heads are a standard port head and the restriction will be the "pushrod pinch" so opening them up to maxwedge might help with gasket matching but won't show any huge power increases, inmo. The 600hp/600tq is achievable with a fully ported standard port head (CNC Stealth/Rpm ) but the peak rpm will be limited due to the port volume. You will probably need more cam as well....250@.050 is pretty small for a 500 incher.

Will the max wedge flow a little more volume than the ported stock style port? As for cam, he didn't say any exact spec's, just a .630 - .650" lift with a mid 250* range (not 250* total duration at .050)....

Also, am considering these headers: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=DOU%2DD452&view=1&N=700+4294908110+4294840062+4294888798+401098+4294925079+4294908099

Yes, the MW intake port will flow a bunch more air vs even a well ported "standard" port. The larger port will also influence the operating range of the engine as well....assuming the components are properly matched.  :yesnod:

The Doug's headers are excellent !  :2thumbs:
