Carb upgrade question

Take a look at this carb.  I currently have a Holley 750 vacuum secondary and I am looking for more.  Would this carb be a decent performance bump for my 440?

The car originally weighed over 4000lbs with me in it but I and the car have shed some weight and now it weighs in at 3850lbs with me behind the wheel.  I was originally told that because the car was so heavy a vacuum secondary carb would be better than a double pumper.  The car and me will continue to lose weight.  Within the next couple of years I want to go with fiberglass front fenders and I plan to add a fiberglass hood yet this winter.

I also plan to get a bigger cam(mid 500 lift range), 3500 stall and have the heads worked over pretty good(as money allows).  I am currently running a consistent 12.6 qtr mile, but I hope to get into the 11's eventually.

I don't want to go all strip as I do like to cruise with it on the street, but I am addicted to the qtr mile.

It's a while since I bought a carb so I'm not the one who can answer that but until someone does, check around some of the other car sites on the net and see what rebuilt ones are going for I suppose.  You can make him an offer from there.

I would look at a Proform 750 race series double pumper.....that's the same carb that is on my engine. It flows better than advertised (830 cfm as measured on a flowbench) and works well with bigger cams that produce low engine vacuum....like the Comp 501 that's in your engine. 

The PF 750 carb made only 3hp less than a holley 950hp on mine when we dynoed the engine. The holley costs several hundred dollars more.

Hi Ron.

So the Proform is a 750cfm and flows better than 830cfm?  It sounds good.  Is this the carb you are referring to?  If so, it looks great to but the price might be out of range for at least this year.
