Question about Iron Man

So he always has to go home first before he can fight the bad guys? I've never read any Iron Man comic books but according to the movie his big robot suit apparently requires some automated assembly in his secret shop, so every time a bad guy shows up in town and starts wrecking stuff Tony Stark has to go all the way home to get dressed first? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of what it is to be a superhero? I mean part of the job is to be ready, expeditious and alert, right? It's sort of like on-duty fire fighters taking their own cars to the grocery store in their street clothes instead of wearing their uniforms and taking the fire truck.

No wonder Stark was immediately contacted by S.H.I.E.L.D. at the end of the movie. He's going to need four other team members there to fight while he's getting changed.

Drache

In the comic books Stark has many suits, one at home, the office, Avengers HQ, etc. In the comics though it didn't take that much assembly to put the suit on, but yeah pretty much he had to go get the suit first.

In the comics though Iron Man was his "bodyguard" for many years before he finally let the cat out of the bag. If I remember correctly it wasn't until after he had joined the Avengers that he told everyone.

SO let me get this straight...

You totally buy in to the ultra-advanced rocket-powered superhero who is able to build a miniature self-sustaining power plant in an Afghan cave...but you call BS because the guy has to go home and put the suit on?
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

Going back to the golden age of the 60's when Iron Man started. He carried an attache case containing his costume/suit so he was always ready to go. He wore the chest piece/armour under his cloth's. This also contained the device that kept his heart going.

They haven't even touched on him becoming a drunk and getting someone else to be Iron Man yet. I wonder if the movies will ever go there.

James Rhodes was Iron Man (during this drunken time for Stark) for awhile and then later becomes War Machine if I'm not mistaken after Stark sobers up and gets his life back together.

Well let's see, after that Stark became paralyzed and had an armor that was controlled remotely by a headset... that would make a boring movie lol!

Now that I think about it I guess Batman has to go back to his cave to get suited up. Guess that's the price you pay if you're one of those pansy superheroes with no natural abilities.

Yeah it's Captain America's shield and after the credits are done you'll see Nick Fury asking Stark to join a "team" they are putting together.

In the newest Hulk movie there are many references to the "super soldier" formula that was given to Steve to make him Captain America. At the end of the movie Stark comes into a bar talking with the General saying they are putting a "team" together and want hulk to be apart of it. This is all leading up to the new Avengers movie supposed to be out in 2009.

Also, the original ending for the new Hulk movie was supposed to be Banner going up to the Arctic to commit suicide and instead finding Captain America encased in ice. (in the comics CA was encased in Ice while fighting nazis. the local natives worshipped him as a "god" figure until finally Namor showed up and broke CA free)

Of course now Captain America is dead... shot by a sniper while leaving a courthouse after leading a revolt against the US Government. (Civil War series was superhero vs superhero in an all out war because the government wanted to impose a superhero training program, IE you want to be a hero you must be trained and licensed. CA didn't like that and so led a revolt whereas Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, led the other side of the battle FOR the superhero license. CA finally realizes that he's fighting against the country he loves and so surrenders to Stark and CA was charged. This was the court case he was walking out of when he was shot.)

i hope they work everything togather in the upcomig movies and hold to the origins . " THE FIRST AVENGER : CAPTAIN AMERICA " is slated for 2010 and to be during WWII so hope fully it ends with CAP on the BUZZ BOMB just the same as the original CAP comics when " THE AVENGERS " comes out in 2011 hopefully it take place with the searching for the hulk in the arttic on the AVENGERS SUB and the HULK is fighting SUB MARINER as in AVENGERS #4 when CAP is found .

thats one thing i didnt like about the X-MEN movies , they had a few of the original members of the X-men as kids in the school  :shruggy: or at least ICE MAN anyways

in the end of THE HULK movie BANNER ends up in CANADA , i thought that was cool coz that works into the first appparence of WOLVERINE in HULK #181

I know he ends up in Canada but the original script had him going to the arctic and finding Captain America (have a copy of the movie playing right now in fact). Also during one point of the movie you hear how the Hulk is accused of the death of two hunters in Canada. This can be taken in two ways, first off Weapon-X (wolverine) attacks two hunters although he doesn't kill them, or the two hunters could be the ones killed by Wendigo which leads up to the Hulk vs Wolverine showdown.

On a side note, did anyone ever read the "What If?" comic books? They were Marvel comics that changed the time like, IE my most memorable one was "What if The Hulk killed Wolverine?". The comic went on to show how the time line would change and just how important Wolverine was to the time line.

I also had a comic book around here somewhere of The Thing (from Fantastic 4) VS The Hulk, that was a good matchup. Then I had another about Hulk VS Thor (hulk tries to pick up Mjinilor, Thors Hammer, but can't). Actually on a side note to that, only Captain America was the only human who could pick up Mjinilor because only Captain America was "pure of heart" or something like that.

I used to be a comic freak so I'll shut up now!
