The back of the car :rotz: Looks like the tail lights are the rap around style. Kinda looks like a Toyota from the back now. :P

I was thinking Nissan but after they milked the retro cow, Asia was about the only place left to turn for styling.

Not much of a change. I liked the 2008 mustangs. The new challenger looks awesome if your looking at it from the front, but I'm not a fan of the rear end...wish they had done something different. All these new "retro" cars coming out look really blocky/overweight to me.

Here's more pics. They said the styling was borrowed more from the 70 Mustang. Not crazy about the tailights, but the rest looks good. I really do not like Fords, but the new Mustangs are pretty sharp imo. It's not a Mopar by any means, but my wife should be getting one given to her from her work in the next year or so, and we were talking about whether we should get the 09 or the 10 model. For free, I guess I can live with it... :2thumbs:

They have the front area almost right (grille looks to be more 71-73 styling than 70), but the sides and the rear are off.  As a Mustang owner, it just looks very bulky to me, much more than the 94-04s ever did (I disliked the design of those years).  The part I don't get is that they are trying to bring back the 1970 stying cues with it, but then they leave in the side coves (70 did not have them) and 67-68 rear side windows.  It needs a hood scoop or something, as the indented hood just does not look right (probably corrected in the Shelby or Roush versions).  I agree that the taillights are the wrong design, although they do look better than what could be on there.  To me, it is only partially styled in the 70 model, which is better than nothing (they could have made a restyled 1974 version).  It may still grow on me with time......

I like how the rear is more slopped forward at the top and how the front grill seems to be angled forward more.

Tail lights dont bother me...

I couldn't really care less  9for it), that looks like ass to me, I'd much rather have a current Bullet Mustang then any other variation,Shelby, Saline solution or what ever they else come out with...  :shruggy:

Based on that pic?  No.  I had planned to get a Challenger when we are through with the Nitro but if Chrysler folds as quickly as some of the "experts" predict, then I will be looking for a Ford, just not that one.

The new retro cars are always gonna look blocky/heavy around the bottom and rear ends.  The stylists know damn well that it's a problem but there's nothing they can do.  It's a combination of Federal crash laws, and some demands/priorities/preferences of the average consumer that they just can't get around.

It's not that they're making these musclecar throwbacks especially blocky, it's that EVERYTHING on the dealership these days looks blocky.  The retro cars just remind us of the issue more than most cars.  We have a similar non-blocky version of the same styling from 40 years ago to compare them to.

The Mustang's lack of door vents are probably aerodynamic (read: gas mileage) issues, pure and simple.

As for the funny quarter windows being glass instead of vented or scooped or covered?  Probably at least partly aero issues again.

And I suspect that one is also lane changing visibility as much as anything.  In some ways they just can't build them exactly like they used to.  Some people really will turn down a car over "little stuff" like that.

That 1/4 window is VERY important for visibility, I will not be putting a scoop on my '08...

Bleh... it looks sickening just like the new Ford trucks with their headlights below the signal lights... just like the four-door charger... have they lost their minds?  If something works well, why change it?  No wonder all the automovite companies are failing - they definately do not deserve the $26 billion dollar bail-outs... just my :Twocents:

The 2010 GT may get a 6.2L 400hp+ V8. I sure hope that Chrysler is thinking 6.4L???

Saw it at the LA CarShow last night and it didn't look that bad.......just something that you'll have to learn to like.

The current mustang was really a dead on car design, they had to change it and there was no where to go but down.

:yesnod: :yesnod:  That would maybe make it a good thing that Dodge plans to kill the Challenger at the end of it's cycle. (if they're around)

Mustang has been my favorite 'New car' for the past couple decades.
