This is my buddy Brandin. He is amazing at guitar, and plays mostly AC/DC.  Since a lot of guys have mentioned they play guitar, just wanted to think what you guys thought. His guitar is a Gibson SG Standard...

Sounds pretty good. I have played a little guitar since I was about 12. I am 41 now. I have never played with anyone. I just goof around. I had lessons here and there, but I was never serious about it. My youngest daughter has been taking lessons for a year. She is taking a month break because soccer and the lessons interfered. Her teacher is allowing me to take her place so she can keep her time slot. I may end up staying with the lessons in a different time slot when my daughter goes back. It's kinda fun and relaxing. I have found that I really stink when playing with someone else. I start watching what they are doing and lose track of what I am supposed to be playing. :icon_smile_big:

Sounds good, what's missing is the timing.  Too fast, too slow, inconsistent.  But don't take that wrong, i still dig it.  Just needs to feel the music he's playing IMO.  I could always play DMB better than anything else I tried because I really enjoyed their music and really liked the riffs.

Disclaimer: I'm still Ozzy to the core, but I didn't want to desecrate RR's good name by attempting to play his stuff. :icon_smile_big:

How long has he been playing? IMO, he dosen't seem like he's comfortable with playing leftie yet. And not to nit pick, but why does he stick his finger out when he plays? That finger he sticks out should be his main finger when he holds the pick. But yeah, I agree with Mike, he needs to get into the song more and practice timing. Playing along to a backing track (you can get them off the internet) helps a lot. But he's defintley on his way. :yesnod: I have that same amp that he has. :icon_smile_big:

He is trying to sell that amp and get a Marshall Stack!
He has been playing for maybe 8 years.

Pretty good. Better than I am, but I never really try to play other people's music. I'm a noodler.

I'd say Mike hit it on the head. Given some time playing those songs, he'll relax a bit more and get in to the groove of the song, rather than the mechanics of the notes. Then, the timing will come.

Of course, he's playing without any other instrument, so what's he got to play off of? bronzy's idea of backing tracks is the next step for your friend. or at least a metronome. You can get lots of metronome programs for the computer for free...

He just uploaded a new Video. It has the actual song playing in  the  background. :2thumbs:  Cant link it, computer  too slow.  Go through his profile!!

A Marshall stack will come for me in a year or so. I'll be keeping my amp though. I'll leave it at band practice and keep the stack at my house so I don't have to keep moving the amp...which I'm doing right now.

yeah, Tman is awesome but the state(wisc) banned him from playing in clubs that serve alcohol.  I think i'd be making an exception in his case.

Or see if Julliard will bend the rules and someone can home school him on the side.  We need some more blues guitarists in the world.  KWS can't do it all on his own. :2thumbs:
