1968 r/t fender emblems?

Hello all,
My 1968 r/t has two mount holes on each fender where some kind of emblem used to be. I can't figure out which emblem belonged there, much less that an emblem was originally on a '68 fender at all.
I'm wondering if these may be fenders from a different year or a previous owners customizing?
