On Wednesday 10/15 I will be going in for a Total Thyroidectomy (thats in the neck for anyone that thought otherwise).
My Thyroid gland is enlarged to nearly 4 times it normal size. The CT scan and ultrasound confirmed a growth with multiple nodules on it.
Rather than just biopsy, test, give drugs, test and retest, the specialist advised that we should just proceed with a total removal of the gland as it will continue to grow, causing difficulty breathing, swallowing etc.
They will do a Biopsy on it after surgery, but I will have to wait 9 days for the results.
I also may not be able to speak for a while, (if ever) due to the fact the thyroid rests against the vocal nerves, and they have to be "eased" out of the way to remove it.( possibly damaging the nerves).
Hopefully, I will be back on the site in a week or 2.

An no, if anything happens...you CANT have my Charger  :rotz:

Good luck with the surgery. My roommate had it done a few years ago (long time thyroid problems). Everything came out fine... except some weight gain.  :eek2: I think it took a couple of weeks before the vocal chords were completely healed.

Troy

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Not much of a choice there!  They can't take it out any other way! :icon_smile_tongue:

Good luck, remember, if you can't talk again, you won't have to worry about answering your wife when she asks "what are you thinking?"

Yeah, but then there is never any risk of being wrong.

There is always a risk.   :brickwall:

Yes, good luck with the surgery.  :2thumbs: Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

And if a wife does all the talking, is it possible for her husband to be wrong? Absolutely.... :icon_smile_wink:

I'm not sure which is worse...your thyroid problem, or this guy's third eye problem. :icon_smile_tongue:

J/K. I hope everything goes well for ya, it's never fun being on the wrong end of the knife. :-\

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

My brother-in-law had the same thing done about 10+ years ago....

Good luck & speedy recovery

Just dropping a line to say Surgery went great, I have not had to take ANY pain  meds.
Picked up a cold while out of action, and doctor prescribed cough suppressants (thanks doc !!).
So far I dont feel too bad, just a little washed out and dizzy. (but that is normal I hear). We will see how all goes with my follow up later this week

BigBlockSam

i'm glad things went well . keep your spirit up and the body will follow   :2thumbs:

Great news brother. Let's hope this is the end of worries and you pick right back up where you left things..

Just don't strain yourself with the wife.. You know as well as the rest of us married folks that it doesn't matter who wins the argument. SHE will alllllllllways hold the cards..

Glad to hear all went well..  :2thumbs:
