I am replacing the front suspension and have the lower control arm hanging... when I jack up the arm it only moves a bit and then freezes, thus jacking up the entire front end..... anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this?

Many thanks!

You'd better relief the torsion on those bars before you try and remove the spindle from the lower ball joint. or L.control arm... Make a visual mark or take a picture of the position of the torsion bar adjustment bolt head so you sort of know where to put it back once you're to that point of reassembly. While you're at it, inspect the lower control arm bushings..........

thanks ... unfortunately already removed the drums and spindle and changed out the upper and lower ball joints.... connected the spindle to the new lower ball joint and trying to raise to meet the upper ball joint...   am I all done now or can I still loosen the tortion nut?

hemi68charger

yes.. loosen it up.. raise the l.c.arm to mate the ball joint holes with the backing plate holes so you can get the bolts in.. I usually inserted the rear bolt in first, the I use the tie-rod end of the ball joint to align the forward bolt hole....  If you ever loosened the lower control arm nut there at the k-member, you may want to loosen it up slighty to release any twisting torque on the rubber bushing.. Once the car is on the ground, you can tighten the l.c.arm nut...
