Tranny change.

Would it be a big deal changing out a 727, 3 speed auto, to a 833, 4 speed manual?

Example: 440, 4 bbl, with the 727.
end result: 440, 4bbl, with the 833.

Does this involve changing anything out? like the rear end?

You wouldn't need to change the rearend but you will need to add brackets and such for the clutch of course.  You will also need to make sure the back of your crank will accept the four speed input shaft.
