There's a fair amount of discussion about that point.  Personally, I feel like the sequence number on top of the broadcast sheet indicates which order the sheets were printed out - and by extension, which approximate order the cars were sent down the assembly line.  That's a much better indicator than the last six digits of the VIN, at least in my opinion.

Some other people who have studied the issue don't see any correlation to the Broadcast Sheet's sequence number, but at least one of the people from that camp has used the mistaken point that each station in the assembly plant has its own printer, and the sequence number is applicable only to that station.  I know this to be a mistaken fact, as there are a number of examples of cars with multiple matching broadcast sheets found in various locations (i.e. sheets from multiple stations/printers), and on each sheet the sequence number is identical.

With that being said, there are any number of reasons that a car could have been pulled off of the line for quick repairs, or the sequence rearranged due to parts supply issues, etc.  Just because two cars started out down the line back-to-back does NOT mean they ended up rolling off together.  Could be, but there's absolutely no guarantee.

My  :Twocents: is that the Broadcast Sheet's sequence number is the approximate order that the cars went down the line.  That opinion, and $0.45 MIGHT get you a cup of coffee...
