I loved this guy when I was a kid.  He was funny and had some great songs in the 70's and 80's.

I did not click on the you tube link - is that a video of the tobacco company executives strapping him into a chair and forcing him to smoke cigarettes?

Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

That is sad indeed. :'( He was a great guitar player as well as a great showman. I loved his laugh.

Sad to hear, I saw him in concert with Waylon YEARS ago. FANTASTIC show!

NOOOOO!!  This just ruined my night. :'(

Damnit!

Man, he could pick those strings and I really enjoyed listening to him sing.

I guess I'll have to do a JR tribute this weekends party.

One of my favorites of his(as well as most of us I'm sure)  But this one has a DOH twist to it.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I guess he's now Eastbound & Down, eh?

Seriously, I always likes him better than Bandit.  Expecially after he got beat up by the biker gang and ran over their motorcycles in his semi!~

Via con dios, Snowman.

Well that sucks, I always liked him.

WHAT A GUY !!! HE WILL BE MISSED !!! GOD DAMN CIGARETTE COMPANY'S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sucks.

He had one of those voices . . . it just resonates right.  It's got character and you know it the first time you hear it.

I've always thought Jerry Reed should have been the replacement for Waylon Jennings as the DOH voiceover.  It would beat all the imitation-Waylons that DOH has used since the 1990s.

I'll always remember him on Scooby Doo sining pretty Mary sunshine. and The snowman.  :engel016:
