Am I wrong to feel that the newer "Chargers" should not be allowed.  After all, they are not classic's and have not been restored or preserved. :shruggy:

It's called the "Charger Fever - All Dodge Charger Weekend". It doesn't say anything at all about classics. It's also a "meet" and not a "show" so it's not like there's any kind of competition - just people hanging out who enjoy their cars. Did you also notice that not all of the cars were Chargers? What about the people who didn't even bring a car?

On the other hand, I do get annoyed when going to my local cruise-in trying to find a parking spot among the new Corvettes, Mustangs, and Chargers. I'd rather have them then not though because at least there's still interest in the car "hobby".

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

As Troy said its the All Dodge Charger Weekend.  With that being said if its a Charger we let it in. Theres plenty of other body style Chargers out there other then the 1-3 gen cars we know about.

The New Gen Chargers were all the varietys including 2 SRT version. One had Crager Mags on it. Anyone seen Crager Mags for those cars yet?

As for the end of Nuts comment of  "not been restored and preserved"   we let any Charger in, in any shape. Many work on their Chargers for years and years and are not able to be in a show. This way no matter what they can come to the show. Put it on the trailer if need be. I guarantee you Frankie brings as much attention as a restored Hemi car does! We have had Chargers in the past that dont run on trailers sitting at the show and by the afternoon the owners have got help and the car is now running on the trailer. Heck Chyrco converted a Charger to Electronic ignition at Ardmore for someone.  Stewart brought his Shelby Charger. If we would have turned him away we may not get to see or learn about the 69 Charger he has at home currently being worked on.

Its all about the Chargers and the people with all variety in between.

Also a good portion of the New Charger owners there also have old Chargers as well.

As for the other cars at the show. They were not in the Charger area. They were simply other Mopar guys coming to check out the show and parked their cars on the outside area which at one time of the day was its on show in itself with a 69 Hemi GTX SS,  The big block Cuda, SuperBee,67 Coronet, Lil Red Express not to mention the other brand owners that came to the show which really surprised me.

Man, there is a whole LOT of first Gen Chargers around there! :o
Thanks for all the pics, you guys. There are some real beauties at that meet. :2thumbs:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Finally got around to viewing these - nice pics, Stuart!

I agree with the sentiment that the newer cars should be allowed. It wasn't so long ago that many were complaining about the 80's era Chargers not being appropriate because, after all, is it really a Charger if "it's just a 4-banger"?!?  (no offense intended) Now those cars are accepted as part of the "classics" and no one thinks twice (nor should they!).

Should we try to shut out the new Chargers for some other, obscure reason? OK, they're not "restored or preserved" but the new Chargers can compete with the Gen1-3 cars in almost every way. The 5.7L and 6.1L have the same throaty growl as any 383 or 440 ever did and the factory "upgrades" are also on par with their 40-year-old cousins. And they're RWD so, IMO, they're more like the Gen1-3 cars than the 80's cars were. I don't see a problem ...  :coolgleamA:
