Would you trade your Charger for a less desirable classic 426 Hemi car?

Yes I would. The 426 is a must have

Say for example you own a #2 Charger with a 383 or even an R/T with a 440. Would you trade it for any Hemi car that you consider less attractive than a classic Charger just to have a Hemi car? I don't mean something like a Hemi Cuda or any other Mopar you consider to be as or more attractive than your favorite vintage of Charger. I'm just wondering how precious this engine is to people. Some examples might be a '64 Polara or a '63 Ramcharger. Would you trade the best looking car ever for a homely Hemi?

If I had a Charger . . . I might depending what the other car is . . . like maybe a 'cuda??
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .

I think you overlooked sentence #3 in my first post: "I don't mean something like a Hemi Cuda or any other Mopar you consider to be as or more attractive than your favorite vintage of Charger."

Almost anything with a factory 426 is more valuable than my 68 RT, so the answer would be a resounding yes.  I'd trade for a max wedge car also for the same reason...

The Charger bodystyle is just too beautiful to give up.   For all of us with 318's, 383's and 440 Charger's we could just throw a Hemi into our cars.   Of course that would take some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ but it could be done.

Ahhhh. So value is more important than looks in your opinion. I was wondering how quickly that reasoning would emerge and it only took 15 minutes.

Yes, I'd sell it and buy a better charger!  That's cheating, isn't it!   You never said I'd have to keep the fugly thing, did you? :icon_smile_big:

Ha, ha! No I didn't. But you raise an interesting point. Are all Hemi cars automatically worth more than all non Hemi Chargers? Put a #1 '64 Polara Hemi next to a #1 '68 440 R/T at the auction. Will the Hemi Polara always sell for more? Maybe. I don't know.

RT DAVE

If both cars are original and there isn't some really rare option on the Charger (Panther Pink, Sunroof, etc.), I would say the hemi car would be worth more 99% of the time.   Just my opinion.

a hemi is just a motor in my eyes.  if one was thrown my way for cheap i would flip it.

I would  trade my 69 charger 500 for any HEMI 4 door car made from 1966 to 1971. Gotta love the idea of a HEMI in a 4 door family car that can flat out scoot.

A 69 Hemi Super Bee....um...yup!  I've always liked the 68/69 Coronet/Super Bee body style in addition to the Charger.

If you just get a Hemi Charger. it's not a choice you have to make.

I would in a Split Second.   It could be a white 67 Satellite with a bench seat,  Grandma looking car.  But if it had the ole hemi,   It would be worth it..     PLUS   i could sell it and buy 3 chargers   LOL

Me too..that way I could end up with a really sweet Charger in the end.

Of course, I'd go flog that car really hard first! :drive: :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I agree I agree I agree!!!!!

All you flippers can just flip those hemis my way, I've got chargers to put em in!!!!!

ScottW

I would, even a clone of some cars. Of course less desirable is very subjective - I think the 65 or 66/67 belvidere/satellite would be considered less desirable than a Charger, but with a Hemi in it they'd be more desirable to me.

Dangit, now you got me thinking. Let's see......   :scratchchin:

:iagree: Nothing special about a street hemi. A well built 440 can outpower a 472 crate hemi....mine did !   :icon_smile_big: I'll keep the car, thank you.

No, I would not trade my 68 RT 440 for a HEMI car.  I like to enjoy my toys and it cost way to much to keep a HEMI on the road.  Parts are way expensive if you can find them.

However, I have considered cashing in a few investment accounts and buying a HEMI car as an investment.  The only thing stopping me right now is that to make money on collector cars, (unless you find one in a barn and the farmer don't know what it is worth) is to hold on to it until you feel like it is time to cash in and make some money.  The same thing is generally true with stocks but the accounts that I would have to cash in to buy the HEMI are spread across a number of securities and the HEMI would put all my eggs in one basket.

In short, I am more than likely not going to do it because of fear of loss.

something less attractive...hmm like dart i guess..NO  I dont even see whats the deal about HEMI, ill rather stick with 440

According to the experts on moparts my 3rd gen Chargers are already the least desirable mopar built, so I guess anything else would be an improvement. :icon_smile_big:

I'd think that A and C bodies are lower than that. ;D

HEMI's are overrated.  Nice engine for a race car, but not the street.  I'd rather have a 440-6.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.
