Drove the car to the local cruise...got there just fine. Went to start the car and it wouldn't turn over. Went home, got the trailer and brought her home. Got to troubleshooting it today and found out I lost a valve seat in number 5. Tore up the head, piston and cylinder. May have to sleeve the block. Guess I'm yanking the motor AGAIN. Anyone know why A seat would come loose like that? They are MP aluminum heads. I don't think I've put 500 miles on that motor since it was done.....I'm totally disgusted right now

Geez, that will ruin one's afternoon. No idea as to why, but take a breather, and maybe someone else will clear it up a bit for ya. Good luck.

damn sorry to hear this Doug ...just put the motor togeather again   :brickwall:  ...    have heard of hardened seats for unleaded gas that have been put in old iron heads falling out , due to not being fitted properly !!   as-well as being a interference fit , some machine shops use some kind of adhesive also ..due to the two metals expanding & contracting at different rates .

Ouch man. Seems to be a rough summer for the 69 car. Have you been using the same shop to do the builds?

I guess its a chance everyone takes when they have something done that they will get a rash of bad parts, or just parts that give out in a short amount of time, but man it seems like you've had more than your fair share of them this year.

Shit Doug!  WTF man?   Now I'M getting mad
The crap you're going through would make most men throw in the towel!  Keep your head up bud!

Geez Doug, it's hard to believe one guy could have so much bad luck  :pity:

Crap, losing 3 engines in 2 years is just downright rediculous.  :flame:

Another guy on Moparts lost a procharged BB wedge recently when a valve seat dropped out and his entire motorwas trashed.....complete loss.  :icon_smile_blackeye:

Thanks Ron....I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I'm still licking my wounds. I know I don't have the cash to do the motor so it looks like winter has come early for me. Right now all I want to do is cover the POS and see how much dust it can collect. I have 2 other cars that need my attention, one of which will be home from the body shop soon. Don't be supprised if you don't see the 69 for a loooong time.
