Hello 69 bronze T5,

I intend to keep working on finding my car.  I hope it turns up somewhere.  There is a really infuriating article in this months MCG magazine about a stolen '68 Charger.

The purple one with the blower I assume? That's a really sad story. Again, good luck!
These thieves should be hung by piano wire. :flame:

Hello Mikepmcs, This tip was posted on Oct 1 08.  I did not see it untill several days later, Det. Gross contacted me on Oct 1, having gotten my contact info from another source.  I believe Misslady's post may have tipped off the thief.   Det. Gross went to the address Misslady gave on Oct 2 and said the car in question was moved the day this post went up and he could see tire tracks in the grass were the car had been.  I've been considering for awhile what to do with this info. I figured at first to let the police handle the investigation, Det. Gross seemed very enthusiastic about following this lead.  I figured the police would find the car in question and let me know if it were my car or not, very simple.  I had considered driving up to Maryland, but the one dependable car that I had was also stolen on the day after I talked with Det. Gross.  In this case a Black '89 Mustang GT conv. with a tan top.  I could always rent a car I suppose.

Hey Bronze 69T5,

When my challenger was first stolen a friend I used to work with immediately set about on his own time to put an advertisement on Craig's list about my car.  He posted it, but he told me every 15 minutes or so that someone was flagging it for removal and he had to repost it.  I commented that I wondered if the person flagging my ad was the thief.  Maybe people should PM me with information.

A friend of mine got her Camero SS stolen out of her garage!! she ran out of her house and after the theifs so they ran her over! she wasn't hurt bad but bad enough.  Her and her boyfriend distributed posters all over town, posted on all the chevy forums and told EVERYONE about her stolen car I live in a town 45 minutes from them but I called the local chevy parts depts. and I called some local car clubs and put out the word, someone saw her car remembered the flyer called them, they called the police and headed for the guy's house! sure enough it was her car sitting OUTSIDE in his driveway!(what an idiot!!) the waited outside until the cops showed up and he is now residing in the county jail !!!!! unfortunately he trashed her car. BUT he boyfriend did a total resto for her including a new paint job!! so at least this story had a good but costly ending!! MY point Tell EVERYONE. I know it has been a while but it might not be too late, even if you think the person might be too far away still TELL THEM! She lucked out her car didn't leave the state! GOOD LUCK I feel for you! I too would kill anyone who tried to steal my chally!!

I know I didn't sleep the night my Charger went missing.

Sorry to divert but what happened?

LONG STORY :yesnod: Short story is we went away for a week, came back and it was gone from the garage. Somebody I guess knew it was there and broke the back garage door lock. We found the car about 10 minutes away in a guy's yard with a tarp over a friend end.

Did you take the guy around back and speak to him by hand until he understood that it wasn't his to touch? If not you sure should have.

I know this is an older post BUT you can contact craigslist abuse and they can probably get the email address of the person flagging the post! I was having problems with someone posting bogus ads with my e-mail address and craiglist blocked their e-mail address! and shut this guy down! so I am pretty sure it is possible!! good luck! I sure hope you find that awesome chally!!   :2thumbs:  and my prayers are with you!!

my neice said that they plant a micro chip in your engine compartment somewhere and only HE knows then you are givin a fob thing like those keyless remotes. ok the answer! she said it cost them about $1000.00 for the whole sysem! and I think it will be $1000.00 well spent! especailly since no one knows where the thing is hiddent! since the location is destroyed after it is installed!!

Nice suggestion Mopar or No car.  I'll contact Craig's list abuse and see what they say.  I saw some people on another site talking about Forcetracker as being better than Lowjack because they cover more states.  If you have a nice car I think some sort of tracking device is a good idea, especially with the economy tanking.  People are going to do more and more stealing.

Joe.

Well its simple. They take a large charge, put it right were they plant the chip, and then blow up the spot. Since your car is a big fireball no one ever knows where it went.

:nana:

I think he means they destroy the papers which detail where it is on the car

oldcarnut

Has anyone tried using something like this?  The web is full of tracking units for various prices with no monthly fees and this was an example.  Just wondered if anyone had any experiences  :shruggy:?

Maybe Im paranoid but it seems to me if each system isnt a custom, personally done job of some sort its not secure. Still, couldn't hurt either I suppose...unless the company is a fraud or has an inside man.

Yeah, definitely a little paranoid lol.

apparently the tech is given written instructions as to WHERE the chip is to be installed and then those instructions are DESTROYED so no one not even anyone in the company not even the tech (since he installs several) after he installs it knows where the chip is!! OK FLG!!
