Is there a difference in the trans mount pad location in the 69 and earlier A833 and the 70 up?. The 70 up tail housing has both B and E -Body shifter mounting points and from the photos I have seen the trans mount pad looks like it is in a different place. Did the 70 model use a different gearbox crossmember?  Thanks, Steve

the 68 -70 all used the same 4 spd crossmember , which is different than the auto matic , in 70 the Chall used a tailshaft with the same mount position as the Auto , what year is the double mount trans you have? the mount point was futher forward on the 4 spd
the shifter mount point  I believe was the same on both trannys though

I have an old flange output gearbox, I have a new mainshaft and need to get a later tailshaft housing. it's going into a 68 Charger. If you look at the housings availale in the link the E/B-Body one for 70 up looks to have the mount pad further forward (I can get one of these locally), the 66-69 one is probably what I need. What is the difference with the 4-speed crossmember? - and how hard are they to find ?

The mounting pad location on the tailhousing is different on '70 and later. The dual pad housing is a '70 item used to cover the transition period; only one pad will be machined and threaded so it determines the usage.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks Guys, help is much appreciated. So does this mean the 70 gearbox crossmember is different, and is the 69 down crossmember the same as the auto?
