Swapping steering column parts from 77 to 71?

I want to get rid of the column shifter and shift pattern on my 71 column. I have a 77 column from a floor shift car[ Cordoba/Charger]. Will the upper parts of the column swap onto the 71?

I believe so , I have had many of these columns apart but never tried that swap
