I found a 72 Charger I am interested in but am unsure of it's value. Can you guys give me your input? It's Originally a 340 car verified by VIN. It is a Rallye car bulge hood, hidden headlights and the louvered doors.   Seems to be in reasonable unrestored condition. Buckets seat console car with minor rust in the quarters.  Root Beer and Black interior.  I wish I could post the pics of the car but I can't right now.  Id give it a 7 out of 10 for a unrestored car.  Internior is fair but it doesn't have the original motor.  It has a non running 440 in it. Wheels and tires are shot...been in storage for 14 years!

Throw me some numbers.... :popcrn:

Thanks,
Hookem

Thanks for the response so far.  I was thinking 4k would be a decent price.

I phoned that car already. Love the colour combo! It's a shame about the engine. I would buy it right now for $4000 easily, but it's too far. Go for it...coolest Charger Chrysler built...

Looks to be a nice car to me. 4k-5k sounds like a good estimate.

What do you guys think?  The guy is holding it for me till tomorrow.  I think the money he is asking for it is still alot.... give me your opinions please.

The car is overall solid and doesnt have alot of body rust.  First and foremost it does not have any fender tags....no title...no buildsheet.  I think it has a bent frame rail on the drivers side...it looks like the drivers side fender has been replaced at some point and probably the reason for the fender tag missing.  you can't tell from the pictures but the front grill is about 1 inch off on the drivers side and the door/fender gap is almost no existent.  It does look like it is a rallye 340 car though..ralley dash, hood, louvered doors and front and rear sway bars.  The wiring is shot and a rats nest...will need to be replaced.  Its got some incorrect interior pieces.  The headlight surround it bent on the drivers side...the radiator support is correct but really torn up on the underside...torn/bent metal.  All the rubber bushing is deteriorated...the drivers side rotor is obviously stuck and has giant groves in it....all four tires and wheels are mismatched.   It also looks like it has three different colors on it...The firewall has some blue on it...the fender has some yellow showing through...the front valance has orange and red showing through but it was obviously an original root beer colored car.  So maybe the firewall has been replaced?  Heck I don't know....i like the car but it's hard to tell what I am buying and I wouldn't know how to correctly restore it if all that info was missing.

What do you think?

First you said unrestored & now thats not possible with blue replaced firewall & yellow fender & orange Valance, Sounds like possibly a major accident at one time :scratchchin: :shruggy: I'd be curious if it drove down the road straight? :scratchchin: :shruggy:, Looks nice in the Pictures though? that car is in Garland, Texas. I will be attending a conference there this week-if you need me to check it out let me know, i can head over and see it one evening if needed.

I still think it's a cool car, but yes, he is asking too much. I asked him why he was selling, I'd suggest you do the same.

Remember, anything can be fixed. If you really like the car, and see yourself driving it, make it happen. However, if there is one thing I can't stand seeing, is people over-spending om Mopars. Unfortunately, this happens everyday, so know what you want, think how much a restore will cost and go from there. The car does sound rougher than it looks for sure, but I love 72 Rallyes and would really like to see this one saved. Keep us posted.

hookem78613

If anyone is interested I have decide to let it go.  I am pretty sure this guy will take 3500.00 for it.  I think it's a little too far gone for me at this point in time.  It was worth checking out and if it was a little better off or if he wanted a little less for it I would have probably pulled the trigger.

Good luck and thanks for everone's input.  If anyone is interested in it feel free to call me and I will tell you what I know.

Cool. Seems like a worthwhile car, but a bit of a project too. It will sell.

thats a good price the doors, hood, taillights, and hideaways are worth nearly that much

i realize that you could part it out for nearly that much but I wouldn't want to part it out.  Save em if it can be saved....
I just doesn't have a title and I really don't want to start with so many unknowns....
