I am currently in England, and I am looking at a 1975 RHD Charger. I want to know how common these cars are. The exterior looks in okay shape, but the interior has been gutted. What are the most common questions I should look at before buying? Thanks Dan

It's an Aussie model but beyond that I can't help.  A VJ model I think which would mean there were around 10,000 or so built and by my source there were less than two hundred sent to the UK.

It looks an awful lot like the new Challenger.  I don't think I have ever seen one of these before.

It's from Chrysler Australia but it does look like someone added a sunroof and a custom front end to it.  The taillights and interior and rear 1/4 windows are the giveaway clues.

So this car is currently on eBay and oddly enough it's 40 miles from my house. I am in the Air Force and I want to ship this back to the US because I think this would be a great project. How weird would it be to pull up to a stop light in a 70's muscle car that's right hand drive...The down side is that if I got into a financial crunch could I sell this car in the US... Just things I am contemplating.

I think you could sell it in the US. You could probably even sell it on this website.

If it needs any parts, you're in for some work. There are some people/businesses that cater to the Aussie MOPARs in the US, but they are few and far between.
At the very worst, shipping parts from AUS isn't a horrible experience. It can be expensive but not horribly difficult in terms of paperwork, etc. At least that's been my experience with diecast models. I don't know if any other rules apply to auto parts.

I think it CAN be done. You should just really understand what you're getting into before you start.

As for being able to sell it if the need arises, I don't think that'd be a huge problem. I'd love one - but personally, I can't do another project right now.
I'm certain there are others on this side of the pond that would/could take it on.
If you got it done before you had to sell it, all the easier it would be to sell it, I think.

Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

I've seen a couple fully restored MINT Aussie chargers sell for upwards of $100,000 on ebay. Course that might have been rare optioned cars, I don't really keep track....

Trim level and drivetrain can make a serious difference in the cost to buy and the cost to restore as well.  That one could have the Aussie equipment underhood or a 318.  I think, THINK, it's a 770 trim level which makes it a little more common and likely to have a 318.
How about it some of you folks from Oz, what's the deal on this car?

i'd recommend you get an 'all original' one direct from australia. there are aust import specialists that will check the car over and give you a report. (hint: look for importers for 'mad max' cars).

that is one uglie custom front, btw.

It's the E49 R/Ts with the 3 Webers that are the really expensive ones.  These languished for years not being worth that much, now people know about them.

For YEARS I was telling people I know about Australian "hemi 6 pack" 6 cylinder Chargers, and no one would believe me.  Now they are worth some bux.

The model shown here is more common but I would think still very fun.
Do I have the last, operational Popcar Spacemobile?
