After seeing the real car in person at Carlisle a couple times, and not snapping a single picture, I started this one late last year. I'm hoping to cross paths with the real car's owner at this year's event, and I'm bringing the little one for a possible photo op with the larger one.

Awesome work. Although not a Daytona, there used to be a Superbird around here that was driven in about the same condition back in the late 70`s.

You know, I got to thinkin (and yes, thats when it gets dangerous), and that is one waste of a original Plum Crazy Rotiserre Restored 440 automatic Daytona. They completly ruined an original Daytona. They should have found a junk yard 69, and thrown on a wing and nose.

What?

• this thread is about a model car
• there's no such thing as a Plum Crazy Daytona
• the movie car wasn't a real Daytona
• the movie car's VIN starts with XP29F so it wasn't an R/T or a original 440 car either
• the movie car wasn't rotisserie restored (before or after becoming the movie car)

So, you can rest easy now knowing they didn't ruin a real Daytona but a base model 318 car.

which means it was a base 318 69 that could have easily been turned into "another general lee". nothing wrong with doing what they did to that car. they didn't even ruin it. the rust was painted on

Hey, the model is amazing. I really like it. I swear I read somewhere that it was an original restored purple daytona. Guess I was wrong. 

I think I read it on another Charger forum.

Well, just a hint: purple wasn't available until 1970 so that should have told you right there that the story was BS. Although, the car was painted purple before it was used in the movie but it certainly wasn't an original purple car. Search this forum for "Joe Dirt Daytona" and you'll find all sorts of information about it.
