I wanted to open a thread on my progress on my 68 R/T. I've had this car since nov. 1988, I found it in Albany, Georgia, from an elderly man named Roosevelt Johnson. I paid 500 for it and it needed alot of work... drivers quarter, fenders, vinyl top, windshield, valence, gravel pan, suspension, transmission, engine and new interior. I finished this in 1992 and over the next 14 years I was able to enjoy the summers going to cruises, shows or the drags. In 2006 I decided it needed a repaint, so I pulled the engine and brought the car to a friend, who did a great job. During the time it was at the body shop, I found an orig. hemi and this is what is going back in.
Last year I bought a 69 R/T, original A34, four speed car. It is a non ac car and when I get that one restored I'm going to put the hemi in it because the 68 is an ac car and the hemi isn't right for it.

I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

Here are current pics. New top which I put on with the help of my sons last week. Engine on a dolly to go in from underneath.

Thanks guys, the color is SS1 on the tag, but I painted it a Sikkens paint color number 434A2. This color is a little less greenish than the original color, and a little more yellow. If the car is beside an original SS1 car then it can be noticed but by itself it looks right.
The air conditioning is something I might do, but not right now. I've finished the top and I'll post some more pics soon. gerry

I've been looking forward to this for a long time, and tonight I got it in. I had to take off the right valve cover for clearance. It went real easy, way better than from the top.
