I really don't see any reason to bash Mike about the car or the lack of a spare, BUT geez the brown nosing IS getting really old. :icon_smile_blackeye: I realize Mike is in a really cool position and all,but I have my doubts that even he like someone kissin his arse.  :Twocents:

Did not think grade 8 bolts (if they are) would fracture like that. Brittle fracture - no ductility indicated at all. Probably a bad batch. And as I recall those wheels are one of a kind design...may just need some tweeking/stronger fasteners. Interesting that the broken bolts bracket the wheel balancing weights....  :scratchchin:

Being one of a kind you have to question how much engineering and testing they have? Scary stuff for as fast as that car could probably go. Good thing it wasnt catestrophic at failure.  Whew!

ok after all that ...all I have to say is that if I can get Mike's permission I am getting Angrier Inc. stickers for my new charger....they look sick as hell on the car.  I wasn't too sure (thought they were cool, but not sick) when I first saw them, but now...WOW!!!!

Man, Mike you rock dude (go ahead and bash me for kissing his arse). I hope that you have better luck next year though.

Also talked with Mike today and he is doing the write up on his trip...... I dont want to post any spoilers.  :slap: he had one helluva trip.

The fasteners in the picture are 5/16 grade eight. Very strong. Unfortunately when you have a tire go down with a multipiece wheel the rim shelll usually contacts the ground through the deflated tire and creates enormous stresses on the fasteners. Typically they will shear, as in the picture. If the tire was running low for any period of time the loads on the bolts would have been very high and they would have fatigued quickly. Take care
