I have th opportunity to put a GOOD 400 in my charger instead of the 340 it came with. I have all the parts (brackets, tranny ect) to do it with. I have been wanting a 440 but may have to settle. Any opinions on the 400 vrs the 440?

the 400 is a good block as long as you rework it, preferably to a stroker.

If you are going to have to rebuild the engine, then the question in the end does not come down to money, because you will be spending about the same on either scenario, the question is how much streetability do you want and what do you want to come away with in the end.
If you want a daily driver with some romp, I would say stick with the 400 and don't stroke it.
If you want a ton of power and a free-spinning engine with good all-around performance, then I would say do the 400 with a 3.75" crank.
If you are looking for some serious power, then just got a 440 and take it all the way.
