A500 trans in a ''69-'70 B body?

you have to hack out the trans tunnel or mount an A518 diagonally to fit one in an old car--how about the 500?  i know...'everyone knows' the 500 is weak just like 'everyone knows' the 904 is weak, but is it slimmer?  would i need to modify the trans tunnel with one? 


i'm trying to get a handle on a 5.7 hemi swap and would love to run OD too. 


if i can do it with NO cutting i'm thinking of putting the drivetrain in either a superbird or a daytona--we like to drive 'em here :)

The OD unit on the rear of the trans is the point of interference in most swaps and the OD unit has the exact same external dimensions on both the A500 and the A518.

i have pics where a guy modified the trans house so as to not have to modify the the tunnel.  I will get them and post them tonight.

WOW ok so some grinding and I don't have to hack the car???  what's the catch there?


time to look for a transmission, methinks.  heck--the driveshaft's warped anyway!

not sure if there is a catch.  you may want to search moparts for this thread, i know they have one somewhere (if not a couple).  good luck.
