Help! Ignition switch problem?

I'm having problems starting my car all of a sudden, and I'm hoping someone here can help me out.  I thought it was the ignition switch, but now I'm not sure.

After my car (a 68) sat around all winter, it suddenly doesn't want to run.  The engine turns over just fine, but it cuts off immediately as soon as the ignition key returns to the 'on' position from the 'start' position.  I assumed it was an issue with the ignition switch itself, but I just got a new one and it's still acting the same way.  Could it be the lock tumber inside the switch?  I jumped the car the other day because I had to move it, and it fired up and stayed running just fine with the hotwire running from the coil to the battery.  The dash harness is the original, but I went through it when I had the dash out, and everything seemed fine...

Any ideas?  Anyone else had this same problem?  I don't know much about electrical/ignition stuff, so I'm at a loss for the moment.  Any advice would be appreciated and save me a ton of troubleshooting time.

switch, ballast or bulkhead ( if not a broken wire, specifically brown or blue )

Thanks for the input guys.   Looks like it was a loose wire connection at the bulkhead connector.   :brickwall:  I'm back up and running for now after some simple wire jiggling, I'll get a permanent fix sorted out soon enough...

tipical!

Is not because bulkheads are bad, is because we must thing after 30/40 years THEY NEED SAME ATTENTION than your suspension, brakes, engine etc... THEY GET WORN, LOOSEN AND RUSTY WITH TIME TOO. We allways forget that.

normally is simply enough CLEAN/POLISH terminals and get them tight... and if not even in that way, a $5 replacement on both terminals and a soldering job is enough... something so cheap that will save you hundred of bucks and headaches
