The numbers on the trans are C 95664 J,  the numbers on the tailshaft are C 95638-k.   I have no idea what they are out of. I'll also need a bell housing, anyone know a part number I need to be looking for.  I'd like to bolt it to a 440.

i dont know much about 4 speeds,  but id guess thats an early 833 from the lack of a slip yoke.   i did the swap in my 68 plymouth last summer and found that using a later tranny with the duel mounts also saves from having to buy a new crossmember ( if your doing a swap)  i also found that the tranny was the cheap part of the conversion.   from what ive seen bellhousing going for on ebay you might be better off calling brewers up and ordering a brand new one.     theres a bunch of good info here on trannys.

The pre-'66 trans also has a different mount position and speedometer cable drive.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
