So I have spent the last hour trying to get this freeze plug out.  I have read several other threads on this but am perplexed.  I have the engine on an engine stand, so plenty of room to work.  I tryed to spin it with a punch but the punch put a hole in the plug :flame:.  I tryed yanking it with a pliers but nothing, channel locks are to big to fit in the hole, if I use a punch anywhere on it it just puts another hole in it.....what do I do now?  Am I missing something?  Help :shruggy:

terrible one

If you have a fine tipped punch try to get it on the very outer edge of the plug, the flange part. It surely won't go through there and if you can hit it hard enough without slipping that should spin it pretty easily.

Usually when you hit the freeze plug on one side you are able to knock it sideways in the block and can yank it out.  :yesnod:

Hey guys, I have still been trying to get this freeze plug out.  It is jammed in there like no other.  Any other suggestions?  Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks

get a small chisel and chop it out in pieces....then use a magnet or grabber stick to retrieve the pieces. send the pieces back to thee manufacturer and have it rebuilt, it was obviously of superior construction.

I finally got that freeze plug out  :icon_smile_big:  Thanks all the suggestions.  I had never pulled a freeze plug before.  After I got that one out the rest were easy, it was just the first one that was the hardest.

bull

I was going to suggest using a slide hammer. So how did you get it out?
