GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

Tim L

Alright it's been a while and there's not an enormous amount to add. We are still waiting on the body guy who is semi retired and works part time from home while in his free time he travels the countryside. The engine is at the engine builders waiting on pistons. We have started reconditioning a lot of little various odds and ends so when the body gets beat and painted they are sitting there ready to go back on/in. Here's a few photos, it's 1am, I'll take some more tomo.
Enjoy, Tim.

Besides the Kangaroo, looks like you got a Pet Bird too? A cockatoo maybe :scratchchin: Do you have a Koala Bear, I like those :icon_smile_big: LEON.

Tim L

No Koala Bear they're very aggressive, I did manage to pat a wild one once.. Don't try it! Yes that's a cockatoo and she's very inquisitive and basically a naughty little sh*t with a lot of character. Here's some more photos for you to chew over, including a friend of ours shed. The Superbird is a V code, bench seat, column shift auto car and the only one in Australia that we know of and only a 35 minute drive from us! The other cars are a 70 R/T Charger which he is restoring for a friend, 72 Roadrunner, Mach 1? 428 Mustang, 69 Coronet and a Ranchero.  As I've said before the Daytona is really just waiting on the body guy... Two questions, our car has the A32 option why does it not have bigger, finned rear drums like on the '68? Also what is the purpose of this bracket??

Cheers Tim.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

UFO

Other than possibly being a tie down point when transporting it does nothing but hold the exhaust tip bracket.

hemi-hampton

Does the Cockatoo talk, Looks like she's trying to help you out by grabbing that wrench for you, Do you say Fetch me that 1/2" wrench & then she gets it  :smilielol: . On that Brackett, Sorry, Never seen one like that. Just put new exhaust tip hangars on & nothing like that in the area. LEON.

bracket is on all second generations ..  , unless they have been removed over the years ,like ufo says the tail pipe hanger brackets bolts  to it , also the rear bumperetts / overiders bolt to it :yesnod:

good progress pictures Tim L  :yesnod: love looking at stuff like this  :yesnod: keep the pictures coming dude  :popcrn:

My 69 daytona had that bracket also incorporated with the exhaust tip mounting .As UFO said it was there for the transporters to haul the car

Tim,

The A32 "Super Performance Axle Package" option included the following:
     4.10 Dana Sure-Grip rear axle
     7-blade Torque Drive Fan
26" High Performance Radiator w/ Shroud
     Power Disc Brakes

The important part of that slate of options to answer your question is the disc brakes.  Under that scenario, the rear axle was fitted with 10" x 2-1/2" rear drums rather than the usual 11" x 2-1/2" version found on manual or power drum brake cars.  I guess they figured the front discs provided so much better braking capacity, they could shrink down the rear drum size a bit.  All 1969 4.10 cars (4-speed or automatic) were equipped with power disc brakes and therefore 10" rear drums, with the notable exception of the A12 six-pack cars which came with 11" drums all around.

On your Broadcast Sheet, the Axle Code will be marked 644 for the 4.10 Dana with 10" drums, which is short for 2931644 - the assembly-line Part Number for this axle assembly.

Good progress on the car too, BTW!

Here's a question for you, Tim:

I noticed in one of the quarterpanel shots that there is duct tape residue all over the tailstripe cutouts that wasn't there when the car was displayed at Carlisle.  Was this left over from when the car was shipped down under?  Trying to keep from doing any more advertising than necessary?

Just curious...

C500

Great pics, thanks for sharing. Good to see another aero car down-under getting the treatment.
"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

Tim L

Yes, the duct tape was placed on there as to not advertise while shipping only thing being, we ended up leaving the nose cone on rather than boxing it up separately as we had previously planned to. Decided  it would be harder for someone to actually get under the car and disconnect it rather than just taking off with it in a box.
