Alright, it's been a while but the car is still progressing. The body work has been delayed by the fact that our body guy was diagnosed with bowel cancer and had to have a portion of his bowel removed. Glad to say he is ok and back at work, finishing some projects. Still don't know when the cars body work will begin, but hopefully not too far away. The engine has been rebuilt and the dyno showed us 394.4HP @ 5000RPM and 501.4FT LBS @3200, this is with a little head work, hotter cam while running the stock exhaust manifolds and carbi. The A pillar trims came back to us and I must say, hats off to the gentleman who beat them he did an amazing job. It's great just how much of this car is still in such good order and with a little TLC comes back to life looking great. Rebuilt the clock with a Quartz DIY conversion kit and revived the instrument cluster thanks to Dave Patik. Picked up an overdrive that was previously in an E body, just have to work out whether it fits the tunnel happily without having to butcher it otherwise it'll go back, any one got any experience? So many hours put into this and there is quite an accumulation of parts parked there, so many things done, so many photos, just thought I'd stick my head up so people can see this is still happening!

Cheers Tim.

Cool. Looks like your progressing. Sorry about your body guy. Those rear brackets that you were asking about a while back, here's your answer. Brian a Mod here said this: That bracket is for a air/hydraulic bumper jack( a very common jack in those days).... most  cars of the era had bumpers all the way down ,instead of a lower valence. but cars that didn't got a bracket of that type. Keep us posted and hopefully the body work will come around  :2thumbs:

Car is still progressing, body guy has been supervising our trunk floor replacement. Car was blasted as you can see in the before and after shots revealing the usual more than you suspected rust. Overall still happy, looking as if at least one of the quater skins will now be replaced as will the taillight panel. Sub frames have been all fish oiled as we had the oppertunity, and in excellent shape. Diff has had axles check and new greens bearings and seals. Diff painted and loooking good. Back wheels cylinders have been sent off for rebuild along with NOS front calipers to be checked. Discs have been cleaned up after sitting for so long. Seats blasted and painted with POR15, now at trimmers being re-covered. Front end has been rebuilt and is half assembled. Enjoy the pics, more to come...

Loudmouthaussie, we're in Victoria you in s.a by any chance? By the description of your 500 I might have seen some photos of it... What's the story with the burnt out daytona? Ours really isn't as bad as what some people seem to think.

Very nice!
The one I pictured was done around Melbourne 5 years ago or so. The box is actually the red roof packaged on my driveway in Canada before it went over. The guys I was referring to go to the Hanging Rock shows...I know they have done the Charger, a Chally or 2 and a 69 Hemi Runner.

Not trying to Hijack, but New Zealand was mentioned earlier in the thread.
I know there are 2 Superbirds (maybe more?) and 1 or more Daytona's the one I know of is a 4 speed  :2thumbs: not bad for a small Country.

Ok, a little more progress on the Daytona as you can see in the pics. Poor body guy hasn't been well but thankfully he's on the mend and the car is just awaiting attention. Dropped in there yesterday with dad to see the nose cone has come up quite nicely. He's reinforced it along the inner rear to strengthen it a little (As you can see in the 4th picture). He needed the headlight buckets to finish the nose and wanted to know the fender profile so we took him over a 68 fender for him to reference. Also has pulled the front up on the drivers side as it was down a little and pushed the roof out roughly. More assorted Daytona items arriving reguarly in the mail from the US which is nice to see. Seats have been recovered and have come up nicely, rails were blasted and painted with POR 15. Nose cone rubber is something we're looking for atm, from what I've read on here my understanding is that Dayclona's are good, if they still make them? Cheers, Tim.
