just a quick question or two.....

Not owning a 68-70 Charger for over 35 years, I don't know what is right or wrong any more.
Look at this picture and tell me what is not right about it, this was just sent to me on a car that is for sale.
XP29NOG is the vin.

Besides the obvious door panel and radio.  No reverse light on the lower dash pad, wrong shifter.  Don't know what else I might be missing.

Ignition and hazard switch are on the column where they're supposed to be.

exactly what I was seeing or not seeing, the reverse light not there and the wrong shifter.
I did email the seller about the red color, asking him if the car was original in Red instead of the current black, waiting to hear back.

Are 4 speed 500 models special in any way or is it just a run of the mill Charger?

Close to 2000 440-4, 440-6, 426 R/T's with a 4 gear so it's rarer than it's performance counterpart.  I think a good deal of them have been converted to R/T clones so it's refreshing to see one original.  Price-wise, I think they hold their own with the 4 gear commanding a better price than a similarly optioned 727  :Twocents:

It looks like it has an early b-body four speed floor hump in it.

Definitely looks like a 62-65 floor hump to me as well .  :Twocents: mostly cause of the additional hump on the passenger side of the tunnel.

I was wondering if anyone was going to mention the hump, at first I thought maybe the carpet was out of shape then I noticed the lack of the reverse lamp and last I noticed is the shifter looks to be offset to the right about 3 inches!

My first guess is, maybe it was an automatic car that has been converted to a 4 speed.  Ask them if it has a fender tag and then you'll be certain.  D21=4 speed D32= auto

Besides what has already been mentioned:

The seat doesn't look right to me and the cover under the stearing wheel is missing.  Wrong wipers too  :icon_smile_big:

Maybe the 3-speed shifter hump was different from the 4-speed hump. :shruggy:

Dave22443

I could be wrong on this (I'm no expert) but I think all 3-speeds were column shift.

Well I asked for a picture of the fender tag and he is looking for it, he removed it and it may be at his parents home in a different state......

Just curious. Something you 2nd gen. experts would know..... Was the radio opening on a '70 the same as a '69? The '70s had dual knobs as opposed to the thumbwheels. Is the only difference the faceplate?   :shruggy:

i had one of the 109 383 3 speed 70 chargers, it was manual on the floor. not column.. by the way that hump looks pretty similar to the 3 speed manual one i had
