Here is abit of a story I found interesting.. When I bought the car it had an automatic with a B&M ratchet shifter ( I thought it was an auto car). well it turns out Mike was trying to improve his E.T back in the early 70s so he pulled the 4 spd and put a built auto in w/ reverse valve body you had to manually shift. He had a donor car and put in the a shift on the column steering column in as well as changing out the pedals. ( He said he really felt bad about it later).  It was before the ratchet shifter came out,and it didnt have the console shift, He had to shift the colomn every gear. :brickwall:  Every red light.every stop, on the column..Those of you that live around Detroit may appreciate this. There is a red light every 1/2 to 1 mile, could you imagine driving a column shift auto everyday like this? ( He also drove it to OHIO to college before he found a more economical car).  He said it did help on the E.T.s  but it took alot of the fun out driving it..... I Bet!, one of the later owners put the ratchet shifter in..The ratchet shifter ( in my day) I thought was really cool, and alot of fun :coolgleamA:

I am probably boring all, :slap: sorry but after all these years with NO info on the history and the " I wonder what this is about?..  to find out I have just got to share some of these stories...

This is exciting not boring.  I'm glad for you and a bit jealous too, lol.  Didn't get a chance to but I'm still going to drive by the house in Roseville on Utica Rd.  And yes, the mile roads are all lighted, 8 mile, (hence the movie), 9 mile, 10 mile etc. with lights in between at the half miles.  The pics are great.  Wish there were more.   :yesnod:  Ted

I don't think there is anything boring about any of it, keep it coming.

Thanks.. Sure you can buy it.. Think of a Really BIG Obscene number and then throw in a Carribean island as Down Payment And then i will Consider Owner finance for 30 years :D I Kinda have an emotional attachment to her! ;) I want her to look like she did, But there is enough museum quality cars out there. For now I want to enjoy and drive, so the changes I plan will try to be as low key as possible, yet improve the performance and drivability by using todays technologies.. Wow that sounds like an advertisement!  This restoration has been very fluid, originally it was going to just refreshen, take a year , then found this, then that, while I am this far might as well.. Next thing you know she is setting upside down in my garage naked as a jaybird! Guys I built my own inground swimming pool, Built a new house with contractors to 90% and finished myself (Well Wife will argue its finished or not!) and this other than the KIDS is by far the biggest project I have ever tackled.  :yesnod:

Interesting.  So if I have this correct......  The car was sold or ordered for an executive back in 68 that had the factory install the sunroof?  Very nice story.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Can't believe I missed this thread.  :brickwall: :eek2: :icon_smile_big:

Sweet story so far. :yesnod:

Love sunroof stories, as I've got a '70 w/a sunroof that's the twin of the 1970 Chicago Auto Show Charger.

Look forward to reading the updates.

I remember screwing a B & M "Quick Click" into the floor of that car back in '77.....LMK if you'd like the owners name from '76-80ish (if you're still here). We had plenty of fun in that car back in the day ;)
