Starting from scratch to set up a Holley accelerator pump.  Do you start with the lever just touching the pump arm or do you prefer a little slack (I seem to remember .005 on a cold engine?), no slack?  What's the consensus?

Ghoste, i try to set them with the arm just touching the cam and creating a very small amount of preload. You should measure the clearance at wide open throttle to make sure there is no binding. The recommended clearance with the throttle wide open is between .015 and .060....meaning you should be able to put a feeler guage between the arm and cam to verify that clearance. As long as you fall into that range it will be good to go. If you're experiencing some off idle stumble the squirter might need to be enlarged to cover up the flat spot. There are different accelerator pump cams available for tuning the duration of the pump shot but on a combo like yours the standard white cam should be fine.

I have cams around here.  No other squirters but I didn't figure I would need any either.  I don't know if it's the white cam that is on there though.  I'll have to take another look because for some reason I thought it was orange.
