I had to go out to RM today and one of their customers has acquired a few new cars for his collection and this was one of them.  It's from the movie version from a few summers ago.

Ah, so it was a '68 and then they changed it to a '69. Good choice :D

A large classic car auction house in my hometown.  They also have a restoration shop.

http://www.rmauctions.com/homepage.cfm

Not as well known in these circles as B-J as they tend to deal primarily with higher end stuff.  A lot of pre war classics and so forth although they certainly pay a lot more attention to the musclecars presently than they did not too many years ago.  It's probably the highest grossing collector car auction house there is.
As far as the number of cars on property, it varies all the time.  There are currently around 40 in the building I shot those pics but they have warehouses all around the city as well as one in Florida, one in California, one in Michigan, and one in Europe and those are just the ones I know of.  I am a very very very very small cog in their machine.

So you can visit it? Sorry for all the questions just interesting is all. Will the cars we see there go up for auction then?

Ghoste

The public can generally go through that building but not at this time as it's being renovated.  Some of the cars in that building are being stored for people, some are awaiting various auctions, some are on loan for display and some belong to RM.  To my knowledge, none of the other sites are open to the public.  Fla and Mi to a degree but not really (if that makes sense).
I've done occasional part time work for them for many years now and it seems like most of the guys in the shop were friends and acquaintances long before they went to work out there.  My contemporaries all seemed to gravitate to the place.  It's through this association that I've been blessed with the chance to crawl around, examine, drive :icon_smile_big: and just become intimate with some of the most amazing cars in the world.  Stuff I will never own, never thought I'd drive, dream cars since childhood, all of it.  I still sometimes shake my head in amazement.  I've been lucky.

sick dawg

Boy are you lucky! I love the Batmobile next to the GL.  Too cool!!!!!!!!!!! :drool5:

Ghoste

The two Batmobiles are going to the same collector that bought the GL.

No, I do some work for the auction company.  They don't really have scouts per se.  There are a few people there who spend time trying to find cars and get them consigned and some who look after buying for RM but they all have other duties as well.  Some of the places (and bigger collectors) do employ anonymous scouts who go around trying to buy things up as cheaply as possible without the seller knowing the big money behind the buy.

You wear your "suit" when you did  :D

Ghoste

I don't need the suit.  Besides, "it's the car, chicks dig the car".

That's cool to have driven those Batmobiles.  The 1960s one is still a total icon even today.

A custume for cruising in the GL is a lot easier.  Cowboy boots, blue jeans, and a cheap button-up shirt.

hahahaha   I bet you have a big GRIN on your face :2thumbs:

Charger_Fan

Is that newer Batmobile based on any particular car, or just a one-off?

I need a job there. :D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

TripleBlackGator

I want the old Batmobile from the TV series. I'd rather have that then a GL any day. I think the 60's series car was based on a Pontiac. Other opinions or correct answer?
