old school trick for better bottom end performance?

I was talking to the guy who used to own my Aspen and he told me that they had "advanced the timing 4 degrees for a better bottom end performance". Anyone heard of this or is the guy blowing smoke?

Yes you can tune the engine powerband by advancing or retarding the camshaft in relation to the crank. Aftermarket timing sets are available with multiple keyways in the sprockets. Any aftermarket parts warehouse should have them. You'll need a degree wheel and a dial indicator to dial in the cam. Once you do it, will be surprised it's not that hard.

Well the aspen already has it done so thats why I was asking....  :2thumbs:
