hi guys,

The guy at the engine shop said that i should get some main studs, since the bolts i have anyways are about 1/2" short. I have a 400 block with the 512 kit from 440 soruce, with a main griddle and windage tray. I looked online at the arp site and others, but  i'm unsure if the will fit as well. Anyone here know what part number to order that will work?? Well thanks everyone. I just need these to continue the build.

cheers.

I used the arp studs in my 440. there is about a quarter inch of extra threads showing above the nuts. I dont know if that would allow room for the girdle. By the way also had to do some minor grinding on the rear seal cap as it hit one of the stud nuts. just thought I would pass it on

well i guess it would help if i put the dimensions of the plates,

3/16" girdle which is .1875" and a .060 windage tray.

What r the stock sizes of a main stud and oil pan bolts??? Can i just add these numbers to the stock bolt size????

i think the stock size is 4.5" so i would add .1875 plus .250 for the nut = 4.9375 (so i'd order a 5 inch kit) is this right???

and what about the oil pan bolts????

I used the stock oil pan bolts with my factory windage tray, so that should not be much of an issue. I have never ran a stud girdle before so I cant pass any advice there either.  On a guess I would say as long as the nut goes down over the stud and has a thread or two above the nut when torqued you will be good. Better to get  ahold of the girdle manufact and see if they have a part number for you.
