I'm waiting for this guy to tour locally, I am dying to see his show. He's not the greatest player that ever lived, but I bet his live show will be cool.  :coolgleamA:

he's good at that and amazingly fluid... but i don't equate fast with good... I prefer soul in a few notes to flurries of notes in a few seconds...
When i comes to fast players Alan Holdsworth has it all,.. (except his compositions usually meander...)  :shruggy:
what i like most about Alan is he has his own voice,.. I can recognise his playing in less then three seconds...
here's the most recent clip i could find... interesting guitar too..
http://youtube.com/watch?v=XnKre5B2x5g&feature=related
I understand Alan was a classical violinist who turned his violin technique to guitar... he was working a 9-5 as a basket weaver in England sold everything he owned and went for a mucisians' life,.. he pretty much does what/goes where Coltraine did - only on guitar...

this one takes a bit to load...  http://youtube.com/watch?v=7F039a2Yn84 (music for musicians it tends to be over the general publics' head...)
interview: http://youtube.com/watch?v=EQUntzKpLj4&feature=related and watch him Burn at 3:00...  :o

this one's a classic from the '70s, they don't just come right out and give it to you all in the first six bars, they make you recalabrate your ears...
Holdsworth with Bill Bruford and Jeff Berlin...  http://youtube.com/watch?v=PGCVk-M7j3U

Check out Susan & The SurfTones, especially her album "The Originals". Truly great stuff, I also love her Walk Don't Run/ Jezebel mash-up from the compilation CD "Smells Like Surf Spirit". It is, in my opinion one of the three best versions of that particular song ever recorded.

WANT TO BUY:
Looking for a CD by  'The Sub-Mersians'  entitled "Raw Love Songs From My Garage To Your Bedroom"

Also, any of the various surf-revival compilation albums this band has contributed to.
Thank you,    Kenny

I'm cousins with Steve Vai (but he is pretty well known.)  http://imageevent.com/thegoodz/stevevai My Image Event site with pics.

I play drums, but not nearly good enough to call myself a drummer.  I like Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater.  He is amazing.

Sorry, at work and cant really get to any videos.

Thats cool. I liked Steve when he was with Zappa. There aint nothing I don't like about Frank. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzqoflT70b4

I too have a cousin that is in the same vein of music. His name is Blues Saraceno http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_nzpVdU1J4. I believe he is mostly producing now. I play guitar. Not a virtuoso, but I know my way around a neck. David Gilmour, Zappa, Clapton, Hendrix, and some metal guys are my main influences. Not a SRV fan though.

No no, haha.   Just usually when I play the heavier stuff, the kid and immature comments get thrown my way, just j/k ing!  Yea they have a really unique sound/manner to them.  The album "Alaska" is amazing.  Their newer cd may attract you the most, check it out.  Almost looks like a pink floyd cover.
