I'm trying to remember the name of a movie I watched YEARS ago that I'd like to watch again, but can't remember the name of it.

All I can remember is something about cars being abolished (or something) and some guy having a red "race car" hidden under concrete in his garage and he had to drive it for some reason or another. Can't really remember much about the movie except he had a red car under concrete in his garage.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Only one that comes to mind is Demolition Man with Sylvester Stallone. That is a newer movie though.  :shruggy:

1969 Charger R/T 440 4 speed
1970 Charger 500 440 auto
1972 Challenger 318
1976 W200 Club Cab 4x4 400 auto
1978 Ramcharger 360 auto
2001 Durango SLT 4.7L (daily driver)
2005 Ram 2500 4x4 Big Horn Cummins Diesel 6 speed

Nope, I can't remember the name either, but it had Lee Majors in it.  He was an ex-race car driver that had hidden the car after they were banned.  He did it with a kid and they went on a cross country run.  Was a pretty decent movie as I remember.

Yep it looks like that's the one.

Thanks!

Gee, I surprised I didn't remember Lee Majors came out in it. I was a huge Fall Guy fan when I was a kid. :D

I remember seeing that one. The premise of it sounds exactly like what the greenies want to happen to us muscle car owners today.

"In a future United States, the only transport available to an individual is public transportation. Predicated on an assertion that "the oil has run out", an increasingly totalitarian central government has ordered all personal vehicles be impounded by law. One man, a former race car driver, yearns again for his ability to choose his own roads and destiny. He reassembles his race car hidden from confiscation, and sets out for "Free California" which has broken away from the new regime, aided by a young technically savvy teen who feels alienated from this "social" society. Agents of the new government must stop this man at any cost to destroy the symbology he represents, and the instability that such a desire for personal autonomy could mean to the society."

That's a cool movie, I remember Lee Majors, I think the car is a McLaren or replica ? Ray

he takes the kid because 1. the kid jumped in the car with him and I think had the keys to the lock on the garage door when the troops were outside his house ready to bust in.  and 2.  kid invented some way of extracting the last bit of gas from the tanks of the old abandoned gas stations.

such a cool movie.

sounds like a interesting premise. But i won't be seeing it anytime soon, since it's not out on DVD and a VHS copy on Half.com is going for almost $50.
