My 8 1/4 rearend makes a whining sound when I go around turns off-throttle. I assume the bearings are bad, am I right? Part numbers or links would be helpful.

My 71's diff went on me last year.

The telltale was on decelleration......you could here this "whiney" noise coming from the rear but as soon as you touched the accellerator the noise went away. It continued for quite a while before finally going on me.

Be carefull though, because a whining noise can also simply be rear wheel bearings in the axles. Check them first.

It's only around turns so I think it's the axle bearings when they get loaded and maybe it does it under acceleration but the exhaust overpowers it.
