I went thropugh a bunch of covers last winter. They ranged from $50 specials to a heavy $200 job. All were destroyed by spring from ice. I now have a garage, but if I didn't, I would have rented a storage unit for it and used a medium quality cover to keep out moisture in the air.

If the car's being stored outdoors I don't think it's worth spending too much on a cover, as any cover will succumb to the elements and be eventually ruined.  That's what happened to my "custom fit" technalon cover that cost close to $200 if not more, with it's breathing capabilities, space-age material, ability to turn into a 3 man tent, blah blah blah.  The $40 parts store cover is doing the job just as well....

I have a Wolf NOAH fabric cover for one of my 'birds that's about 5-6 years old now and it's starting to go.   I used that for outdoor storage several times.

put in waterproof  charger cover on ebay they got a good one. for about $49. i store 5 cars under covers and one in a out door  capsule. thats the best its just like a garage but it's $600. my covers last about 2 to 3 yrs, except my custom california cover. i've had that one for 5 yrs. still hanging in there . The problem I've found is most of the covers out there right now that claim to be "state of the art" and "breathable"  are not intended for long term outdoor use.  Most aren't even waterproof??    I hate when I go to a show and have to leave my ride out in the parking lot of my hotel . . . then, as most know, it will rain over the night and possibly into the morning.  The pretty breathable cover is now soaked with water and so is the car under it!

Does anyone have a good place to buy an outdoor cover??

this is the only cover that will do what you want. all covers will allow moister to get in. this outdoor car capsule will cost you $600 and you need electricity but your car will come out just as you left it. Rene

shits dude, $600 for cocoon, $600 can buy better stuff than that. I had tarp from K-mart, didnt take stress and slowly disintegrated over the winter while it was on charger.

But like you stated . . . need electricity to be affective.  When I'm at a show and looks like rain, I need a cover for the ride that is both waterproof and fits well!  600 is alot for a cover . . . how does that weather in the snow??

first time i say one was in the parking lot of a show with a generator. it does good in the snow. you have to put a regular car cover on the car and then put it in the capsule. you should roll your windows down an inch or so. i thought it was way over priced too. but i have no garage for my rod. this is second best. I agree.  It depends on your definition of winter, but in my little corner of Canada (near Detroit) if it has to be stored outside, it's better with nothing at all than any cover or tarp.  The cover will disintegrate in short order and the wind will allow a tarp to beat the hell out of the finish.  I'd spend the money for a cocoon.

moparguy01

i put a nice car cover on, then a crappy one over top of that, and tie cinder blocks to the crappy one, and spread them away from the car so the finish doesnt get screwed up. unfortunately, while i was in kansas, my dad didnt do that, and used a real rough rope to tie the tarp to itself going under the car. Now i need a repaint on the car. so yes, dont do that.

What sold me the first time i saw the car cover was when a guy had his viper in one, and took a sledge and hit the bubble thing. and it didnt go anywhere near the car. he damn near dropped the sledge as he fell back though.

I know I've posted this before, but here is a picture of my car the last time I did not use a car cover. I do not have a garage. There was no damage to the car.

The next year I bought a $200 car cover that was supposedly breathable (I don't remember the make), and spent the next few weeks of spring buffing out the imprint of the car cover in my paint.

The next year, I used a plastic undercover and that seemed to work.

wow! what i great picture.
