Here are some pics of the wheel/tire combo for the 68 street/strip hot rod for you guys to look at. The wheels are Weld Prostars front and back with BFG drag radials (rear) and BFG t/a's (front).

wheel sizing

rear: 15x8 x 4.5in backspace
front: 15x7 x 3.5in backspace

Tires

rear: 295/65/15....29.5in tall/10in contact patch/12.5in section width
front: 225/70/15...27.5in tall/6.8in contact patch/8in section width

The rear has SS springs mounted in the upper hole on the front hanger. Clearance to the front wheel opening is 1/2in which is fine and there's lots of clearance at the rear of the wheel opening. The radials don't grow at speed so this type of clearance is fine even at the strip.  :2thumbs:

The 15x7 with a 225/70/15 fills out the front wheel opening nicely....not too wide and not too narrow.  :yesnod:

Do you have a link to where you can buy those 295/65/15 BFG's?  I found some M/T's on Summit, and couldn't find that size at BFG's site. Lookin' good! :nixon:

I'll post more pics of the 68 as it goes together  :icon_smile_big:

Here are a few pics of my 70 r/t 6-pack car ; this one will be getting some steelies painted body color & dig dish caps. I'll run the conventional 275/60/15 out back and a 235/60/15 up front on 15x8 & 15x7 steelies. :2thumbs:

The 70 is originally a plum crazy car now painted red (which i like  :drool5:) and i will add the hood blackout and tail stripe which it was coded for. The paint is still in excellent shape even though it's 20 years old and nuthin fancy (single stage)

Once the 68 is done the 70 will get some much deserved attention.  :pity:

I bought them at Summit a few years ago. It appears that Summit doesn't have them anymore....not sure if they don't carry that size or if BFG doesn't even make it anymore  :shruggy:

Hoosier carries a very nice "Prostreet Radial" that is allmost identical in size but would be a better choice for a street car, inmo. More tread depth and should last a lot longer. The 29x12.50x15 is almost identical to the 295 BFG D/R.  :scope:

I will use the Hoosiers when the BFG's bite the dust.  :icon_smile_big:

Ron, same rear wheel and tire set-up as mine! Looks very nice! :2thumbs: Those BFG's just barely fit with the stock spring location, but look a LOT better than a 275-60-15, in my opinion! :icon_smile_wink: Gives it that "MEAN" look! :yesnod:     RandyB
