Well yeah, I know there been numerous threads about this, but I can't seem to find the right answer for my question.

This goes about the good old question 1) : I need a 4 speed tranny Buy 18 spline or buy 23 spline?
                                                      2) : Rear axle, will my 8 3/4 do with a good rebuilt or do search for a dana.

Is money an issue? Of course (it always is) otherwise I would not be asking the question at all. Does that mean I'm into a cheap and sloppy restoration? No not at all. I just want to know where to spend money the right way, because afterall restoring our cars is more than expensive enough and why go overkill when a "downgrade" product will do a perfect job.
We all know price differences between 18 and 23 spline 4 speed units and same goes for 8 3/4 and Dana 60 axles.

So what am I expecting?
My 69 will be a 512 stroker built with a goal of 500 HP (I'm sure that number of horses will do more than great for me) I'm planning on running the car on aftermarket 19" rims with a pretty wide tyre (think of Mr. Angry or Keepat's 68).
So I have no idea whatsoever to expect from such tyres when it comes to grip??? The car wil be for street use only but i'm afraid it will see some regular abuse   :D
Drag strip? twice a year tops and no slicks for sure...

So all you drivetrain guru's, help me make up my mind so i can start searching for the right parts.

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

With that tire combination, you will NEVER hook up, which will spare your transmission and rear.

Get it to stick, and you'll need the Dana... and you'll need to chose a clutch very carefully.

Definitely install a driveshaft loop.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the loop prevents the driveshaft from coming trough the floor pan when you snap a yoke or so right?

So I tought of a good rebuilt with a clutch style suregrip and a pair of aftermarket axles in my 8 3/4 rear and a fully rebuilt (maybe even a passon one) 23 spline 4 speed unit in front of that.
Am I "in the ballpark" with that?

With the torque of a 512 stroker the 18 spline would be a better option. The Dana should also be given strong consideration....heavy cars with lots of torque and standard transmissions are 8 3/4 killers. The ring gear is usually the first thing to break.
