:rotz: .

4404spd is correct, NOS stands for new old stock. New old stock basically means that a part is new and unused but is old.

twilt

NOS doesnt mean a part is perfect. this is especially true on chromed parts.

The confusion starts with the ricers who, as MH noted, call it nos or nahs.  They are getting that from a company called Nitrous Oxide Systems or N.O.S.
None of this has anything do with new old stock parts just pointing it out for any ricers who may be lurking and thinking, "damn yo, waz up wid dem Mopar dyno-sores and dey be misusing dey nahs."

I'm not even attempting to read that last part.

Actually I did know Nitrous Oxide Systems but it obviously wasnt referring to that. Oh well, I was reading another post about legendary stuff not fitting well, is this true, I want to gather as much info as I can before starting this resto.
thanks

BTW: N.O.S. parts were notoriously the parts that wouldn't fit way back when, and so they were never used. i'm not saying this about all N.O.S. stuff, but beware....a lot of this stuff is junk that wasn't even acceptable 30+ years ago.

I see guys taking used parts that look decent selling them as NOS. The part has to be in a state that was never installed, though it can exhibit shelfwear to qualify as NOS. I have seen many used factort replacement fenders sold as NOS too. At that point they are used OEM replacements.

Legendary Auto is mainly for "soft" parts like the interior. You will be hard pressed to find any of these items NOS anymore. The only part I bought from Legendary that I was really disappointed with was the dashpad. It is a poor piece made by someone other company and sold by Legendary and other vendors. Everything else I bought was of good quality.

You will find as you begin your resto that many of the suppliers get their reproduction parts from one manufacturer. There simply is not enough demand for a bunch of companies producing these parts. The quality of repo parts can vary from good to bad depending on the part and manufacturer.

Mopar also has some OEM stuff available to help out your restoration.
