Hey Peeps,

Looking at the 72 Chargers I see they didn't use that crappy  :brickwall: bumper filler. It cannot be found and IMHO never looks good. Has anyone ever moved the 73-74 bumpers back to eliminate the rubbers?  :2thumbs: I know it would require bracket modification but since I'm a fabricator I doubt this would be a problem.

Also Has anyone seen the feb/march mopar mag with the featured 72 charger? The dood painted his bumpers and they look sweet! Besides, all quotes I'm getting are for about $1000 to re chrome mine  :eyes:

With the rear bumper all you need is pre-73 brackets to move it in. With the front you need to enlarge some hole to move it inward.

Im not sure what its called exactly I just robbed them off a 73 SE parts car I had.  It looks fine without the trim but I liked the way it looks to I added it.

I liked what you call " that crappy Bumper Filler " . IMO if I wanted a 71 or 72 I would have bought one . But to each his own .  :shruggy:

Hi,

I like it too if you could buy new instead of half good ones from ebay ect. Unless they are perfect IMHO, They make the car look imperfect. Sorry if I offended you I didn't mean to.  :pity:

PS, I wouldn't give up the 73-4 tail lights for anything!  :drool5:

No offense taken just different opinions is all . I see a lot of guys trying to make their 73 - 74 's into 71 - 72 's and makes me wonder why they just didn't save all the money they spent into buying parts and buy what they really wanted . But whatever .  :shruggy:

maybe because likes better the  73/74 shape with enlarged quarter windows, lower windows openings, continued body lines with those specific features what mostly of ppl preffers ? louvered tail lights, hideaway, no bumper fillers and stuff like that ?

:slap:

Or maybe because is what the money got to get ? how many ppl get a 3rd gen because financially s not able to get a 2nd gen ? year after year market makes it hard to take any model so is needed to get it ASAP

:slap:

Or maybe because was at hand ?

:slap:

why then no get a Charger R/T instead take a regular and clone it on an R/T ? Or the same between a regular and a Rallye.

:slap:

Or why get a 2nd gen and convert it on a Daytona instead get the real deal ?

:slap:

PPL making that is not coverting them on 71/72 because that is imposible, just adding the features what 71/72 provides and weren't available on 73/74. Specially being piece of cake to install.

that trim does not take place of the rubber filler and in fact they lived together on SEs. Is attached to body instead the bumper like the fillers. Was available on all years the same, including 71/72s where fillers didn't exist

I can't recall how is named. Mostly sure 69CoronetRT will float someday with that LOL

we talked about that here:
http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,38510.0.html

judging by what Tufcat replied:
My 1972 Charger Rallye had it..... It also had the optional (M28) - front bumper reveal moldings, and (M36) rear bumper reveal moldings.

that's the name...  bumpers reveal moldings ( M38 and M36 on tag )

I used a cutting torch to enlage the holes for the front bumper.  and it looked very good and eliminated the filler piece.  I have a side view pic of the car on the gen Discussion section on the last page of post pic of your Charger.

Hey Guys,

I took off my front bumper today,, Side brackets, fender rubber thingys. It doesn't look to me that even if I open the bumper holes and slide it back its going to cover the space where the bumper fillers are/were. Any suggestions or even some more pics of people who did this ;)
