Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

That KW cabover and the last orange truck  :puke: :puke: :puke:

I am definatly against chopping and low riding trucks :rotz: Yuk! I hate lowrider pickups too. A truck was ment to be big and tall, not some pimped out hore house on wheels :puke:

Those are some really cool show trucks, I like the last one style, orange with red, how the frame is stretched really long.

DCG.......Those trucks are not traditional "lowriders".  They just have a custom air ride system that allows them to dump that low when parked. When they roll down the hiway, It's at a normal height.

This is Moparsuebear..... I forgot my password to my account, so using hubbies while he's gone to Korea. I have a couple truck questions. Where does one go to see a truck show? I have never heard of one before til viewing all those photos. They are some cool looking trucks and the truck drag races.... that I have to see!
Also, being I am a female and not up in the ways of trucks, why do some trucks have an extra set of wheels in the middle of the rig that just sit there and don't touch the ground? Is that how they carry the spares? and lastly, why is there so many tire blow outs from trucks on the highways? You just can't drive anywhere without seeing bits of tread on the roads! Just curious.

Just IM Troy and he will get you your password. They have truck shows all over the country. You gotta read trucking magazines to find out about most. Or word of mouth.  Louieville, Ky just had theirs a few weeks ago. We have one in a couple months here in Wisconsin. They even have a light show at night. "why do some trucks have an extra set of wheels in the middle of the rig that just sit there and don't touch the ground? Is that how they carry the spares?" They are called "tag axles" They are raised and lowered by air pressure. Not all states allow them because the allowed weight limits are different. They are used when loaded for extra braking and to a point to keep the frame from flexing badly. When you run empty, you are not required to use them, although, some guys use them to a point when they are empty just to smooth out the ride. "why is there so many tire blow outs from trucks on the highways?" Same reason car tires blow out. Improper tire pressure, over heating, poor manufacturing, cuts in the tire. Also, you gotta remember, the air pressure is around 100psi in truck tires, and they sometimes run over 500 miles a day. Also, a lot of truck tires get recapped which is taking a good worn out tire, skimming off the old used tread, and capping a new tread onto the older tire. Generally, you can recap a tire as much as 3 times. But the more you do it, the more likely they are going to blow out. A new highway tire is about $300. - $400. a piece. That is NOT the cost of construction "float" tires (the wide ones). They cost about $600. -$800 a piece. A recap is anywhere from $150 - $250. Thus, a lot/most trucking companies will use retreads when they can. Retreads are also illegal to put on the front axle because of the blow out risk being greater. The company I currently drive for will only use recaps if it is the first recap for the tire. It's a cost saving thing. I hope this answers you question Sue. any more please ask.

Hay Sue  there is a huge bunch of people into old trucks.   Probably bigger then any car club. ATHS has 22000 members and have shows all over with a national meet once a year. In fact in 2008 it will be in Hutchinson here in Kansas!

I went to a trucks how last week!

Here is an international show from a year ago. Both were in Newton Kansas.

I remembered my password! Yay!  I wish we could go to charger fever again this year. I've been to a lot of huge car shows like Carlisle and Mopar Nats, but I had the best time at charger fever. It was a great group of people and we loved it. We proudly display our trophy we won!  Perhaps next year.
I'll have to see if they have truck races here in VA. At the base air show every year they have a jet truck which is totally cool. Last years display he set off the "bombs" on the flight line that were part of another show by accident. It was totally cool.
Have you ever heard of banger races? They are popular in England and so much fun to watch. It's like demolition derby except they go around a track. It's cool.
Went last week to a car show, the last one Bill could go to, and we got to see drag races. I don't know what it is, but something about races is so fascinating to me. I love it. Saw some nice chargers and a gorgeous barracuda.
