Does anybody know a good place to get old copies of Car Craft magazine?  I've been looking for a decent copy of the Spetember 1971 issue for a while now, but I can't seem to find one (other than the one for $16 friggen dollars on eRippeopleoff).  Any help would be appreciated  :2thumbs:

Thanks John!  That's really cool (and a nice read), but I'm not sure if that has the entire article on it   :-\

It has the little CC  on the last page so I don't think anything is missing. Just wait and one will come up that is cheaper or you can pay the big money and just be done with it. I am looking for 6  hi performance cars magazines from 1965 and Jan 1966 for over a year with no luck on Evil-Bay.

Big money? Jeez, and people call me cheap. Just buy the friggin' magazine if you want it! Is there really a whole lot of difference between $7 and $15?

The quest for such information is why I have been working on a digital database library of vintage car magazines the past few years.  I wish I could get that done quickly, but I have been preoccupied with my disseration writing and job hunt.  I have always thought it would be cool to be able to convert car literature (defunct titles not in publication nowdays) into a digital form, so you don't have to worry if the paper might disintergrate on you.  Information like that should be avalible to all for free, just like in a real library.  That way you could place a cheap (older) laptop next to your car at a car show and people could look though information about your particular model and road tests from back in the day.  Particular articles (or whole magazines) could be saved to a CD or DVD, so you can customize each for a particular type of car.  I have been on the hunt for vintage Hi Performance Cars magazines to complete my 1964-1974 collection (85% done), but lack of time has put that on a side burner for now.  Hopefully, later in this year I can get something started on this project.  So, if you have any vintage car magazines, you might want to scan them in to help preserve the information (onto a DVD/CD) as you never know when a disaster might ruin your literature collection.........

Oh wow!  I didn't see the pages from the original 1971 article when I looked the first time!  You are currently my favorite person.

I think I have a right to be cheap...especially being in college and having to pay for a car  :yesnod:

But is $7 going to kill you? ;) If you're that close to the brink you should probably cancel your internet service, turn off the heat and lay in bed with the lights out praying they don't disconnect your telephone.

I have been building a collection of Hot Rod, Car Craft, Popular Hot Rodding, Motor Trend & Hi Performance Cars from 1965 to 1972 for a few years. I have completed all but the six magazines as mentioned before that elude me. It is nice to have all the road tests, adds and build ups at your fingertips.

greenpigs-  Which issues are you missing?  If you let me know, I will look through my collection list and see if I have it.  If I do, I can scan it and give you a copy if you like......

I can check what I have too

I was just wondering. How much do you guys pay for new car-magazines? 16$ is less than what we pay for the latest edition of Popular Hot Rodding over here..
So 16$ for an almost 40 years old mag, is dirt cheap in my opinion..

But then again we also pay 9.5$ pr gallon for gas.
