Bad news: Insurance bill came today and the resident shedevil ( wife) saw it. She says there is no reason for me to have a giant pick-up and three cars I don't have any need for. She said I need to think about selling one of the old cars to save some money. I have a company take home car (my PD unit) that I drive all the time.  I'd rather burn county gas than my own. Shedevil says a car needs to go, so I said we can sell your car and you can drive one of mine. She'd have no part of that idea. Now every time I turn around I hear about all the money I'm spending to insure cars and motorcycles I hardly drive.
I think this is the worst way to get forced out of the hobby. She better be careful, I've got my eye on a superbird. Always wanted a wing car! :drool5:

What's the big deal? Are the cupboards empty? Behind on the mortgage? No shoes on the kid's feet? Unless you're hurting real bad it sounds like she needs to take a chill pill.

QuoteI've told my friends for years that even if we run out of fuel or internal combustion is outlawed, I plan to keep my Charger.  I plan to be like the character in one of John Grisham's novels that had an old car in the backyard.  When I'm 90, I'll sit in the car everyday sipping whiskey from a bottle in a brown paper bag, muttering at the cats on the hood of my Charger and dreaming of a life from decades prior.

  no doubt! at least i can polish the fender  :2thumbs:
I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

Not being forced out, but work on my Mopars has stalled completely because I can't afford it right now.

I'm not being forced out but it does feel that way. I blame Barrett Jackson. With all the good it has brought to the hobby, it has brought a lot of bad for Mopar fans.
I can't remember how many times I've been charged for small parts (misc. bolts, door lock knobs, etc.) that just a year ago weren't worth a thing. Collectible cars are a bargain when it comes to investments but that makes parts for them cost a premium.
Damn Barrett Jackson.
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.
But before the General Lee there was me - Headrope.

If I hadnt got into my 68 R/T so cheap (3K-running & in decent shape) I probably wouldnt have done it. Id stick to other more affordable Mopars like my 74 Duster and 64 Power Wagon...Just my  :Twocents:

Probaby, he doesn't want to have to sell ALL his cars in the divorce settlement because the wife demanded half of the money put into them.

I don't see the prices forcing people out of the hobby so much as just stalling their progress for years on end.

But the prices are probably blocking the number of new entries into the hobby though.  Grown men struggle to afford one of these things that's even driveable, and then they wonder why the kids all turn to ricers.

Very true Mike.  I think stalled projects have always been a factor with sending people to easier hobbies like backyard beer can draining.
