Install the headlight adjustment fasteners. I have brand new ones and I spent almost an hour without getting a single one installed. I am dealing with fresh paint (not very thick) and I can't get them to seat (click). I was just about to throw a tool when I decided it was best to just walk away. I know getting the old ones out were a bitch but getting one (let alone eight) installed is maddening! Any words of wisdom from someone who has done it before? I'm all ears.

Ummmmmm.......if you're talking about the plastic anchors, take the adjst. screws out first.

:iagree:

they should simply click on the hole, but maybe screws are making it hard

Yeah those are lots of fun. Take the plastic retainer out of the clip. Install the metal clip first and then the plastic insert.  I don't know why the ship them clipped together.  I've never been able to install them like that. Like you I tried and cursed and threw things  for about an hour when I did. Seperate thepieces and life becomes easier.

If they are like mine,69 Charger, look at them, the plastic piece will move forward(piece on the car) if you spread the metal clips from the sides(sides meaning the longer sides not the shorter ones). They don't have to come completely out, they should stop before that.Put the metal clip in and press the plastic piece in with your thumb. Some are ez some take a little more effort...

After trying about a dozen different ways of installing these little bastards I got creative in the machine shop at work. What I did was take a 1" round piece of Teflon and cut it about 1" long. I then drilled a 3/16 hole through the center. I also drilled a 3/4" diameter hole on one end about 5/8" deep. I  take the "bastard" clips and press them into their holes as far as I can. Then from the front I cover them with my device with the end that is 3/4" X 5/8" deep. That hole will allow the clip to be pulled into it from the back. Then insert a 8-32 screw from the front of the device, through the clip and it protrudes about 1/2 in back of the clip. Then after placing a 8-32 washer and nut on the screw I just tightened the screw from the front and the clip is pulled forward right into it's slot. I just listened for the click, take off the device and ta-dah. The little prick is installed with nary a swear word. Ahhhhh.    :2thumbs:
