glad to see a charger forum on the net for the older and in my opion classier chargers...i found a 69RT and need some basic information before purchase..should the car have disc brakes..fake wood grain dash..i havent a clue what this things needs in order for it to be a real RT and not a fake....the guy states it is as such and comes with the 440 and a 4 speed...just any help on what i need to look at to determine if it is a real 69RT would be appreciated.....i am not sure of any options (or what it needs to be a real RT) on the car so any help from knowledgeable forum members is again greatly appreciated....i just do not want to spend the cash and end up with a fake...

Welcome to the site!

If Im correct (somebody correct me if I'm wrong), disc brakes were an option on '69 Chargers, not standard brakes. The main thing is, look at the VIN tag on the dash, if it starts with a "XS29" then you got yourself a R/T. :2thumbs:

Disc brakes were an option and the woodgrain dash was a part of the SE package.  As Cody mentioned, the first thing to check is the vin for that XS.  The RT came standard with a 440 and the Hemi was the engine option for 69.  Another quick visual check would be for the "hemi" suspension with larger brakes (11 inch drums if it's drums all around) and the HD leaf springs out back with the extra half leaves on the passenger side.

Hello and welcome to the site. :icon_smile_tongue:      After you check the VIN, very important to look on the top of the radiator support to make sure the Vin production numbers match what is stamped on the radiator support.  There's a stamp on the trunk lip also, but probably under the glued rubber trunk seal on the right side.  If it's XS29......... and it matches the radiator support great chance all legit.  People change radiator supports and trunk lips but for the rare big buck cars, and yes it's wrong and Illegal.
