NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!    Ed's sold it !!!!!  Man, I know that car very well..  It's a sad day for me.. Now I know what it was like for all my friends when they heard I sold Whitey....

That car IS nice... Ed's intention was never to make it look like a '69 Daytona (so there to all the nay-sayers) but the mysterious '70 version. Think the purple 6bbl 70 Daytona was his inspiration.... I drove it a few times and once coming back from the Nat's...........

I'll add that the Charger started the conversion based on a very solid Texas car.....

I didn't say that. You said:

That car isn't even in the top 20 when it comes to a "real nice" 1969 Daytona. It's a nice car, but far from a 1969 Daytona Clone.  :Twocents:

old-pro

I wish I had the money to buy it, the cost to build one like that would be far more than 45k. I have seen the car, it is nicely done. In my opinion it's better than a clone since it is a 1970, there for it's not a clone because Chrysler never built one.

can you share your top 20 daytona clones with us ? cause i was talking about daytona clones not real daytona's , and yes I've seen more correct clones but i like the quality of the work on this one. there's been a rash of daytona's and superbird clones on ebay that where kinda slapped together ..  :Twocents:  Rene

Define clone please. If you mean a 1970 Charger with a nose cone and wing, then yes, it's a clean modified car...far from a clone. I don't see how it qualifies as a 1969 Charger Daytona Clone. Maybe you can help me understand that?  :shruggy:

Finally someone feels the same as myself!!! This is far from even close to being correct !!

hey Chris , you and Larry agree.   :smilielol:

to use the word clone literly  is impossible when your making a dodge daytona replica . for it to be la clone means even all the #'s must match an original daytona .
i think when we use the word clone , concerning daytona's . we mean a 2nd gen charger trying to look like a daytona but come on you knew that . Rene

I am on a ledge as I type.  :P The end is near, that's for sure.

Your definition of a clone is certainly different than my version, but everyone has their own opinion, so who's to say what's right. I do know (and will always feel this way), that you need a 1969 Charger if you truly want to make a clone. If you abuse a beautiful 1970 Charger to make a wing thingy, you are building a creation, and not a clone.

:-* to all the haters.  :icon_smile_wink:

I think I'm kinda with Chris and Larry.  A Daytona tribute may be a better way of describing it but it's all semantics really so who's to say?  I know many of the General Lee purists get upset when someone does a 68 or 70 version of that car (or horrors, a 71!).  :shruggy:
In any case, it's a Charger so it's cooler than the other things on the road.  :icon_smile_big:

OK guys.........  Ed WASN'T trying to make a '69 Daytona clone out of it....... He was trying to make it look like the so-called '70 "Daytonas" out there ( i.e the purple '70 six pack Daytona that was in the Kansas museum I believe).....  Believe me, if he wanted to make a '69 Daytona clone, he could and would have....... Not too many people here now the story or history behind this car, sooooooooooooooooo, nuf said..........  Guess I feel the need to cover his back since he's my friend......

Troy, I am actually agreeing with you. It's not a '69 clone, and not only would it need a lot more work to look like one, but would also need a new VIN tag considering it's a 1970 Charger. Him doing a version of Jerry's car makes much more sense. It resembles that much more than a '69.

ps- If you want to cover someones "back", maybe it should be the ebay sellers. After all, he is the owner of the the car now.  :P :icon_smile_wink:

Its a very nice car for what it is we all know its not a XX car or built to be passed off as one.Ed workmanship paint body and nose installation incorporated with electric headlights remains to be shown on a car that was built in the mid 80-s early 90-s..I dont know the story behind the 70 383 AC SE car.He only told me the wing was all that was salvaged from a daytona. That he had got for some relative .Maybe Troy68 Hemi Charger can elaberate more on this cars history in TX area. And how it came to be for sale .I seen it in the early Houston Mopar club it was photographed at a hamburger cruise night place wiith other club members car .It was the only wingcar I recall .I think it was Princes  in Houston.I saw it at other Houston and TX meets.Last one including the Boerne TX Charger Regiistry.I know it was from Silsbee or Lumberton. And havent seen it in sometime till it hit ebay

Haven't talked to Ed in a while, but knew he was thinking about selling it.. I haven't spoken to him since I saw it here.. It caught me by surprise as well... If the broker does have it, more power to them, guess they are flipping already.. Or, the alternative is that he's got it there under consignment.. Either way, I was trying to explain to the people thinking this was a '69 "clone" it wasn't.. The ad says nothing about being a '69 tribute, but a '70... As far as covering the dealers back, them I could care less.. Most everyone who knows that car, identifies it with my friend..... Of course, the dealer ad is all foofoo'ed

In conclusion, it's a kick-butt car with air !!!!    :icon_smile_big:     I'd drive that car anywhere... I'd be proud to own it.........

:2thumbs: to you Chris....
