Hey, first of all thanks in advance for any advice.....  Now for the problem, I'm looking to get new rims for my 69 Roadrunner and can't decide between 17's or 18's either way their going to be 8in wide...... I'm leaning towards the 17's with 4.5 backspacing with 235/55/17 in the front and 275/50/17 in the rear.... what do you guy think?  The rims are going to be black with a polished lip

Personally, I think anything bigger than 16's starts to look a bit cheesey. These are old classics.....there's a certain look to them which needs to be maintained. I think with too big a wheel it starts to lose it's tough appearance.

Just my opinion. I guess I'd say 17's in this case.

Im with pete on this one but i stop at 15's however, if you want to see 2 great examples of larger wheels done right then have a look at keepat's car and also NYCmille (a.k.a mr angry) i believe they have 17's on the front and 18's on the rear. Dont know about the back spacing

I went the mix and match rout 15's on the front 17's on the rear.  :2thumbs:

terrible one

For the rears I think you need more than 4.5" of backspace. There was a thread about this somewhere, and the general opinion seemed to be 5-5.5"
